  • City graphics: Isometric or Traditional?

    Which type do you prefer to use, and for what sort of scenarios?

    Isometric is in keeping with the map angle.

    But if feeling retro or using BeBro cities, I can dig the traditional too.

      With few exceptions, those isometric city styles all look like little piles of boxes.

            I like isometric, since it makes the cities look like part of the map.

                I voted 'depends', I don't think it matters too much as long as it looks good.

                  Depends on the artist. Curt is the undoubted master of isometric cities, while BeBro's perspective view cities are peerless. There are also poor renditions in both styles.

                  The key is consistency of style, as with all civ graphics.

                    Isometric gives a better feeling of "floating" above the terrain and in my opinion is more realistic than just a 2D representation. Of course artistic ability matters the most.
