  • Civ2 Source Code: "News" Item

    Hi all,

This post is to keep you informed about what is happening in the civ2 source code petition and to ask you for feedback...

First of all, I should confess I didn't expect this reaction. I've got much more feedback than I was expecting, I guess we're now more than 200 people (100 in the English sites, 100 in the polish sites), and we've have not yet published a "news" item (see below).

I'm a little overpassed by the answers. I try to send each of you a personalized answer, and I got something like 20 mails each day. I spend around 1 hour each day only in replying mails and updating the list of petitioners - but that's for good

I think our next step is to publish a new item in the main page of Apoly, CFC, etc, so I request your help for writting such a item, as my english is not very good. Any suggestion will be welcomed. If there is no suggestion, I'll suggest my own in Saturday or so.

I apologize in advance if I get delayed in any answer to you, because, as I said, this more traffic I can sanitily handle.

After the news item I expect to get even more petitioners... Let's see how many signatures we can get. But as I'll probably not able to come with such a big email traffic, I'll also love ideas about how to share this load... Sezon, for instance, is collecting the email addresses in one of the civ2 polish sites and he's doing superb in my humble opinion.

Please post here any idea/suggestion about the new item or anything other thing

      Read my CFC reply.

Edit: I wasn't quite sure what kind of response it would get, but I think we should be able to get several 100 more. I mean, surely the entire Civ community (Civ3, FreeCiv and c-Evo at least) should be interested in this, right?

I hope to get at least 500 signatures... Maybe it's too ambitious but it would be a beatiful number

There's already been an item in the 'poly news on this - I submitted it as a news item, and DanQ did a great job of getting it up quickly, along with a link to the CTP2 story. see: http://apolyton.net/civ2/

As soon as I update the SCS, I'll write about the event there. What a pity I'm quite busy with my exams right now.

153 is my count. Add aroun 125 people in the polish forum, it ups to 278.

I'm considering to put a new item in slashdot, as some spanish people in BarraPunto (SlashDot page in Spanish) have suggested me. It could bring a lot of attention to this petition

I forget to add that before publishing a "news" item in slashdot, then I'll open an automatic signature recollector or something like that, becuase I'm sure I can't handle the amount of signatures we'd get in that case.

Yaro, keep up the great work my friend

I would LOVE to see what you could do with the source code.

What you do without it, is amazing
