  • Nona's Minimap

On the Minimap for Nona in the Sci-Fi game, the oceans are coloured in neat little bands of orange, yellow and white. However, in-game the seas look seemingly random. Why?

That's because it IS random (well, sort of). The oceans are all really one terrain (Methane), but the game uses the graphics/rules of three different terrain types.

These terrains are then displayed in some sort of pattern. Since the minimap determines the terrain colors by what terrain type it is, it can't determine it correctly in this case (since it's all really Methane).

Instead, it uses a different pattern to give the Methane the colored bands.

It's kind of silly actually, because you'd think they could have used the same formula as the one the big map uses.
