PEACEFUL What would be the point in playing?

And with huts, advanced tribes would just have to be disbanded at the first opportunity. Due to the theories on # of cities required to support getting nomads from huts, not many would be gotten.

I would hold firm on no tech trading. Too much advantage to the first two civs to meet.

    Peaceful alliances with all civs
Sorry, I still find that amusing.

      All right.

So Rah, are we going to find 5 more people and try this one out on one of your small rocks?

I think you first need to decide on the goal of the game...as stated earlier in the thread, no one is sure this is possible (7 civs, one city each and goal of spaceship on AC) as it has possibly never been done before.

I remember a thread on a game a while back (which Rah was part of) which had the goal of the earliest possible AC landing, and the combined effort of 7 civs had it landing in 7 AD (IIRC). But in that game everyone had the same goal, and worked together to make it work (the obvious advantage being that you wouldn't need to worry about defence).

In this game, with only 7 cities, this would obviously be much more difficult, as there are only 7 cities, and thus the usual tactic by OCC players of raping the AI for anything and everything would not be possible .

Therefore my question for anyone considering playing this game is do they think it is even possible to land on AC if you are all playing against each other? I would think a more appropriate goal for the first game is having those 7 OCC Civ's working together, not only with Tech trading, but with anything else as well, to see if a combined effort could reach AC prior to the expiry of the game (as I think this game is more a race against the clock then against the other civs).

Once that is reached (and I am not sure this is possible either, but what do I know ), then perhaps it could be played as true OCC, with each civ against the other . Just one interested observers opinion.
        [/Peanut Gallery]

Edit: The thread of the 7 civs working together to land on AC is among my favourite reads, and if this game was to occur, I am certain that whichever way it was played, it would also rate as among the all time best threads of all time.

I'm betting that it's probably very likely that someone would win. (only because I have faith in the abilities of the players here) The only difficulties I see, is that the person that builds apollo might be hard pressed to hold onto his city. Spys sabotoging production could also be a problem. Defending could be difficult.

If it even comes to apollo. I think we should leave all options open and allow conquest victory as well.

If conquest victories weren't allowed, I would have considerably less interest in playing. (none)

Is this game gonna happen - if so and there is a slot open - I would like to play

Maybe someone should post about it in the MP section

7 player OCC sounds very interesting.

A couple of quick opinions on rules/settings.

I think the map should be reasonably big. I don't think 7 people on a RAH rock would work out good. If it were a medium to large island map caravan payoffs would be alot better which I think is gonna be important in a MP OCC game. While I like the idea of conquests as well as space, 7 people on a RAH rock could lead to 3 or 4 players getting conquested before the game even gets going.

Someone mentioned that this would be a race against the clock. I've never tested it in MP but if it is like SP just because its 2020 doesnt mean the game has to end. Remaining players could keep playing until the game ends. Who cares about the civ score anyways.

What happens if you take an opponents city? Do you get to play with 2. Unlike a hut city it could take centuries to disband an opponents city.

This game sounds like it could be very interesting and probably quick enough to finish in one session.

                  2 questions:

I was the one who mentioned this as a race against the clock, as I assumed (silly me ) that after 2020 you could no longer land a spaceship (mp and sp). I knew you could play on after 2020, but can you still land ships too?

Other question.......did this game take place? Hints in various threads in both here and mp forum sounds like it was going to happen........if it did, someone will start a thread I hope??

WE tried one with 5 people last night. Not a lot of action. It took a couple of people almost a 1000 years to settle. Getting a few units before settling made a big difference. It moved pretty fast. I think I'll try it again.

                      Who won though?

Post a link to the thread, if you've got one, so we can all follow your progress.

That one was more of a trying out the concept and I doubt we'll continue it. But it does open the door for an official one that we would attempt to finish.

Actually, this could be a good game for a lot of you "not ready for MP yet" The game should move quite quickly and a lot of the strategic MP interactions will be minimized. Also good for the perfectionists. Maybe I'll put together a game. FRIDAYS or Saturdays in the evening US central time.

Yes, you can still land a ship after 2020. I did it a few times in the early days.
