      Agreed

Let the AI build it; then go capture it after 1750...when, quickly, there will be more than one city....

O Sole Mio is celebrating at size 15, our trireme can deliver hides to St. Petersburg in 3 turns (we should wait for Monotheism) and gems to Yakutsk in 7 turns, both demanded. The deliveries should hit the science cap at appr. 700g each. We are not at war and our reputation is spotless. We have alliances with the 3 strongest civs, the Japanese, the Russians and the English.

          Monday Morning Edit:
'bout time we had a real OCCer show these RARs how to make progress...

RE: Mikes, you are planning a big city-grab in a couple more turns, right? Sure would beat ST when it gets -time.

... just 500 more years till you can toss us annoying OCCers over the side...

          • Okay, here are some more thoughts of Zenon the Peaceful:

We are playing a Giga map. Right now there are 61 AI cities to capture and there will be a few more until we finish somewhere in the 20th century. Now that we have traded most of the maps we know what distances we have to go. The English, for instance, are more than 60 fields away. I hope that the Japanese will finish Magellans in time. If not, we should consider to build it ourselves.

There are 37 turns left until invasion day, enough time to build Michelangelos, barracks and some crusaders and knights to face the Japanese. O Sole Mio has a production of 14 now. In 35 turns our settler can mine the jungle field and two grasslands into forest, enough to support up to 20 units. The treasury and the deliveries will help to build them.

I strongly recommend Michelangelos Chapel. We may have some 40 cities before we can capture it from the AI and the unhappiness will hurt much more than the 8 caravans we spend now. Also we cannot support more than 20 units anyway.

Techwise we have Iron Working and can trade for Navigation to go for Physics and Steam Engine. There is a lot of water on this map and many AI cities are just waiting for our Ironclads.

One final reminder for those who never have alliances. Don´t forget to get rid of the alliance before the AI is approached! I don´t want to hear any complaints about triremes and troops sent back to our homeland.

                  • I'm up next, but unable to play until Sunday

If SG (1) (and afterwards, La Fayette, STYOM) would like to step in in front of me, please feel free to do so.

                      • The Play list -- since we will soon come to the magic date of 1750, why don't we start the second round with ten turns each.

                        • Round two -- let’s all play ten turns each

RB a camel; we’re pathetic (almost true.)

                          1280 (1) -- move our boat & RB another camel; size = 16 (we’ve been promoted to weak -- hip, hip,… hooray.)

1300 (2) -- We’re back to pathetic -- and now we’re so demoralized, we won’t check anymore. Talk to the Russians (5 spears) They want us to declare war on the Vikes (no) they want 150g (we pay up.) We also give them Chiv, Eng & Uni, and then meekly ask them for a gift ….and collect 250g. RB a boat to carry the two new camels.

Hmmm flush with confidence, we talk to the Mongols, give them Eng and ask for a gift nly to be rebuked because they’re working on a wonder (doh!). Talk to the Vikes, who are three techs behind us, but have Nav -- but they don’t want to trade, pleading inanity.
(Mongols & Vikes start KRC) We grow to size 17.

1320 (3) -- We discover Mono & opt for Inv over Astro, BB, Chem, & Feud. Now at size = 18. hides (d) to St. Pete = $700. Hmmm this looks like a good racket; boat sets sail west. RB a camel.

1340 (4) -- Russians stopour 2nd camel to talk (same as before -- War vs Vikes?, no, -150g. (ouch #2)). We give Sea & Sanitation & ask for a gift -- +200. Also put the camel on autopilot to Tblisi (maybe it will forestall these awkward conversations -- we’re now only a half dozen techs over the Russians.) Karakorum completes Magellan’s (rats -- note to self -- put this into the early target bucket.) & English abandon. size = 19. RB another camel.

1360 (5) -- We love ends at size = 19. we toggle around & seem to get no satisfaction, so we rest the numbers to 2.0.8. Discover Inv & opt for Bank over Astro, Feud & Gun. Kagoshima completes KRC, and Russians, Vikes, and Mongols abandon. RB a camel.

1380 (6) -- Talk to the English -- -INV, +Nav; -Mth, +BB; -Phil, +250. Maybe we should talk to them again sometime. (Vikes start Leo’s due to their GL swipe of our trade.) RB a boat.

1400 (7) -- Caravel leaves bound for Russia with 3 Hides camels on board . RB a camel

                          1420 (8) -- move boats, RB a camel

                          1440 (9) -- Ditto

1460 (10) Gems (d) to Tblisi -- 726g. Should get the discovery on the click (thus the toggle to 8.0.2)

Notes -- we have a few food camels, can probably use a few more. Also have a couple of coins in the treasury -- we may want to make a trade or two to get Astro so we can research TG & get Isaac Newton. My focus was on riding the commodity camels as long as they were offered (a few Russian cities want hides) -- now that we’re down to food, we might as well grab a couple of choice wonders.
