    • The former, of course. Would have shortened my agony and perhaps look forward to another game with a better starting position.
You sofar always had the choiciest lands around.

      Sent.

For the record, I moved around my troops a bit, so you still need to accept the deal you put in the diplobox. Didn't know the game resets player deals if they're not accepted immediately upon opening the turn.

My, the AI seemed to have done some trading around as well...

Btw, you sent me a 440ad turn for Grandpa?

          • thanks for telling me it went to you. i am so used to sending you the stuff that his email got diverted to you

AI trading is never good... they are way too generous with each other...

            • Mmm... now you're offering me Alphabet in a trade? Thought you would hand it over in 20 turns just like that?
And what guarantees do I have you won't use Monarchy for your own nefarious trading means? Perhaps I better wait a bit to see what other civs wish to offer for it...

Trying to clarify things before I play this turn...

              • yeah, but this would be 19 turns earlier

and it goes without speaking that i will not trade on monarchy and you won't trade alphabet further, ok? (a deal in your advantage because some AI already have alphabet, but none have monarchy). my promise on that!

                        • OMG! Your city allegedly under threat was the one constructing your wonder?

Wonder what would have happened if I waited another turn... would the 'reinforcements' have been too far away then for defending?

that city was 2 turns away from the wonder. you would not have taken in without a lot more units. i had around 3 units waiting outside the cities to choose which city to defend...
but you did give me quite a blow to the city. i had to whip up another spearman additional to the pillaging of the copper set me back a little.

in end effect your stunt gave you a tech and made me kill 4 population points so good move, well done
(and good decision on taking the peace deal. i don't think you would have had a chance against my super-duper-army

                            • Don't think I would have had a chance either. I attack-tested the one closest to my borders afterwards. I barely could scratch its defenders with all I had. But I was close to going out with a bang anyway, you know...
4 population points? You changed production in Heliopolis and whipped a spearman to be sure? That was stupid, with 2 units I could never had taken the city.

Okay, let's play a turn before my dishwater gets cold...

                              • it was against a "lucky punch".

in another game my chariot (adjusted strength 4.9) lost against a wounded barbarian axeman (adj strength ~1.9). losing heliopolis AND the border city could have been a problem.

i'm surprised you didn't enter with a bigger force. all 5 units at heliopolis... and in range of the other city... i would have ****ted myself
