According to the Cold War entry on WikiPedia:

...the "war" took the form of an arms race involving nuclear and conventional weapons, networks of military alliances, economic warfare and trade embargos, propaganda, espionage and proxy wars.

It seems to describe our game very accurately, especially Cor's religious propaganda plaguing my nation! And the whole arms race thing, if anyone has checked the power graph lately.

I have to agree there. On this small map with tight borders, there's cold-war-like tension. With only 5 or 6 cities each, we cannot afford to lose a single one, and with few production centers we have to balance science and military carefully. Lately we are all racing for defenses while maintaining more subtle rivalries based on culture, religion, and/or trying to get the AI to do our bidding.

That and the fact that it's my longest-running Ancient Start PBEM yet, makes for a nice & intense game so far.
