i cannot seem to join the game, despite civstats not displaying any problems. ping does not work either, so maybe dnsdojo is off or something like that?

I was able to join earlier today.
It took a few seconds before the line "connected to server" showed though.

i get an immediate "failed to join at dcole.dnsdojo.com" from two different computers and internet connections...

I have the same pop up now. So dacole's server is down without Civstats realizing it. Weird.

i messaged dacole, i hope he can load from after geo's turn, that should leave us approx. 13 hours to complete the turn, hope that suffices for the remaning players.

well, the turn has passed and the same problem remains, with no answer from dacole.
can somebody who has his address send him an email (PM and posts here don't seem to alert him again)?

If it's any consolation sabre, it is happening to all of us.

Maybe it is time you took over hosting.

If we're going to switch servers at this point, I have the recovery save of my turn at the 21th. I assume that's enough to load the game again.

I've had bad luck reloading from player-side autosaves. Is there a reason to believe he doesn't have turnwise autosaves??

as it was going very smoothely before, i'm not quite yet with my server and i'll be gone this week for a few days (octoberfest in munich). but i'll re-raise the setup priority in light of the current situation...

personally, for me the problem with dacole's hosting are not the infrequent outages - that'll happen to me and others too, but it's the response time. we never know if he's away (so not near the server) or simply not getting the thread notifications.
it would help if we could send direct emails, at least then the second case would be covered

For myself, feel that the Host of a Pitboss game should also be ACTIVELY involved in the game as well.

Dacole is a great example - Yes, he has been a great host, and in the past, his hosted game has been more-or-less stable. But he has not been a RESPONIVE host. As we can all tell by our current impass. (Silence from Dacole)

And why should he be responsive? He is not playing this game, after all. (in another words, He doesn't have a dog in this race).

So, based on this analysis: I vote to replace Dacole as the host for this game - it is obvious that more important things are keeping him occupied at present.
