    • Yes, sorry... had to disconnect it for HOTW.

It should be back up now.

      • Why so many people have to disconnect for HOTW?

        • Not sure if I actually had to. I know Beta does, so as not to delay an already delayed game, i disconnected it just to be on the safe side.

Next time i may just try doing it with pittboss still running. Doesn't seem to affect any of my normal multiplayer games.

          • PTBS has no effect on it - unless you're the host of the game

            • OK. My first week at HOTW I had connection issues. One suggestion was the pitboss app running. Could it make a difference if someone was trying to access the game at the same time as I was logged into the MP game. (I know - noob question. Bear with me.)

And btw - I am using dsl, running at 3Mbps download and 512 Kbps upload. Could that be an issue?

So - if not that, and not my firewall which was down, and I don't have a router, that leaves the dsl modem.

CyberShy or Ozzy had posted a pile of router settings. How does one go about cheacking or setting those?

Kbarrett posted the following ports in another thread, can all players who had troubles last session open these ports / connect them to the right PC?

                • None of the ports beyond 2056 should be relevant, particularly if you're not playing Gamespy games. Even if you are playing it in Gamespy, my understanding (from Alexman's directions, iirc) is that 2056 is the only port needed.

More of the issues come from routers themselves. Krill and I had unending problems even both with DMZ activated (firewall effectively turned off). What kind of DSL modem do you have?

Shouldn't, at most you might have one brief bump but I've connected before with no problem.

That's what I have, so no...

Router settings could of course be the issue, but if you don't have a router... but I wonder if your DSL modem is acting as a router; some do.

                    • Forgot that I have to be in war in order to defend the city!

                      Sorry about that Pinchak.

                      • No problem.

Simply a case of too little too late on my behalf.

Considering what Snoopy still had left over i don't think it would have made a difference.

Take your horsemen and run for the hills!

I was wondering about that myself. Wasn't sure if you were trying to time it or something... not sure if I'd have attacked if you had remained inside or not. I'd probably have had to simulate it to see how the immortals affected things - I didn't have that many units more than you+pinchak, after all, though one of yours is/was damaged.

Embarq's EQ-660R ADSL Router (reading right of the back of the box.)

So - is it a router - or is it a modem???

                            • Many highspeed connection modems also have a router built into them. If there are several ethernet outputs (usually 5) on the back of the modem, chances are it is acting as a router as well.

For DSL, the first box your phone line encounters is your DSL modem. If this is the only box between the wall and your computer chances are you have a combo modem/router.

                              • There is just the one output on the back, and it is the only box between the wall and the PC.

I actually have two routers (one a 5 port wired - the other wireless) sitting in a bag here - unused.

So, the question I have - how do you check the ports, etc? IIRC, you use an IP addy to access the modem/router.
