I believe the best thing to do would be to wait for the patch to be available for auto-update. When it is available for one it will be available for all, so whoever is the first to play after the patch goes live, just let the patcher do its thing and everyone after will then do the same.Comment

No, it's a download. Patches are seperate. Direct2Drive is owned by IGN (Gamespy) so it probably won't be long.Formerly known as Masuro.

I don't get it. It's the same game right? Why can't you just d/l the patch from Apolyton, or better yet, use the check for update feature in CIV and d/l it from the publisher? Why is it necessary to wait for direct2disk?Originally posted by Masuro

The CD version and the download version are different somehow. I don't know why a patch for one won't work with the other but that is what it says on the website.Formerly known as Masuro.

the difference is probably that you have a no-CD patch like version.
