In other news, Pharsalos has a Greek revolt! That's an unexpected turn of events. What don't they like about American rule? Whatever it is, I'm sure some troops I sent that way will help resolve the differences.

Steel is a fine idea. I went for the Printing Press due to the extra commerce it gives us with hamlets and towns, which should boost our research a good deal and help offset the maintenance costs of the colonies. As soon as I get that, I will join you in researching steel.

Alright, so they attacked us again...



Note that the Roman city of Cumae which I have been eyeing for a while now is defended with many units, but they are sort of obsolete... We have Grenadiers now, after all.



I suspect that a few of these units will be used to attack New York, but I also guess we will easily repell them. Also note that the nearest Greek city is not wel protected at all...



I'm guessing that if the war proceeds like it did last time, then we shall be able to take Sparta. Unfortunately, I forgot to check out Boston for prospects of retaking, but yeah... We might be able to take that also. Note that I think compared to the previous war, we are actually better off now, because we have a nice technological advantage over Greeks/Romans.

There wasn't much of an attack mounted this turn, just one stack of a war elephant and crossbowman from greeks crossing over north of Pharsalos. These have been dealt with accordingly.



Also, I lowered the science rate to 20% for now so we can get a bunch of cash to upgrade our units to grenadiers and other such newfangled toys. The thing that bothers me most, however, is Freddy and Hatty... I suspect they might be the ones plotting against us. (Don't know if AI is capable of that...) The thing is, clearly this time around Greeks and Romans stand no chance against us. And this will slow our progress down, too. So the only ones benefitting are Fred and Hatty. They already had a substantial tech lead, and they stand to gain more ground still here. Fortunately, they still don't have Astronomy or Chemistry, so in the military tech front, we are ahead of them a little bit. One, they can't build a navy, two they can't build grenadiers. I was thinking about giving up chemistry to engage them in our war as well, but then decided against it. I think at this point, the tech lead might be more important for us, after all, once we deal with Romans and Greeks, it appears the only way to slow down the other faction is to show them the fist.

Oh, one more thing.

I also captured an unprotected Roman worker on this turn. Hey, it's little things like this that add up to the ultimate humiliation of your foe.

Yup. I just hit print screen, go to the screenshots folder, and upload that. Some people have had trouble making screens from windowed Civ4, but it works fine for me...

Meh. I had expected New York to fall this turn and so did not send in any reinforcements. However, our defenders put up a huge fight, and killed off six enemy units before perishing themselves, as a result, the city stood, with only the catapult remaining to defend it, and the attack force being cut in half. If I had sent in reinforcements the previous turn, they would arrive now and the city would be saved, however, it is definitely too late now... The lone catapult abandones the city.

I also switch civics to a better wartime configuration, and keep pumping units in existing cities. Dammit, we want New York and Boston back.

Gah. I can't believe NY stood. I could have saved it. Meh.
