as much as this hurts, but it might be better that i resign or get a replacement. my influence in this game has so far been:
    - pushed krill into another time slot
    - delayed turns due to installation and setup
    - had email problem with beta.
    - could not guarantee a full 2-a-day due to my job and "mobility"

and all i have done is one turn

so, should i resign or will we look for another player?

If you want to resign I have no problems with that....
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

          sabre - not an issue.

Guys, may I suugest we pack in the idea of a pbem game and turn to the pitboss format. I have a four person pbem game on the go where the folks would like to engage in a pitboss game, albeit, not until one of our crew relocates to N.A.

We can set the turn timer to 24 hours, or even less, which should achieve what we were looking for in this game.

And hey, maybe even saber can play then.

To be honest, I would be hard pressed to start up another pbem game. Pitboss rules!

i have never used PTBS as i always play offline anyway and send it manually via an email client. i doubt that would work, right?

The pitboss works pretty simply. It is more like playing a pbem turn whenever you want - without sending all the emails around. You just log onto the pitboss game, play your turn and exit. If all players finish before the turn limit - set at 24 hours or something like that - the turn advances and we all play another turn. It is a brilliant set up, once you get through the mechanics of setting up a game, and with someone who can host it (hosting means leaving your computer up and running and connected 24/7)

To play, you simply start up warlords, hit MP, hit internet, log in to the gamespy lobby, check the game on the list to join, log into it, enter your civs password, play your turn, hit enter to end your turn, and exit.

Games move along very nicely with this format. If you do miss a turn, the AI continues with your city builds and research and any pre-planned unit moves. Wouldn't want to missa turn during a war though.

exactly, you said it... one logs in and sort of plays online. in that way i can only play 1 turn per weekday because during the day my notebook receives the saves via the USB-stick
