Hi all, I'm writing this from work.

The situation with my ISP is getting worse rather than better consequently I'm going to have to change providers. This means that for all practical purposes I should be considered as being out of the game. I'm sorry and very annoyed as this is definitely unfair to you all ad so I suggest that you try to find a replacement for me at the first oppurtunity. When you do find someone you had better tell them to expect action.

I'll be keeping an eye on how the game is progressing when I can. It's beem a lot of fun and it was going so well too.

How long will it take to get a new isp? personally, i wouldn't mind waiting 3 or 4 weeks

I definitly vote for waiting. We're light years ahead of our "time schedule" anyway, so pausing for a couple of days or even some weeks doesn't do any harm. Rumpo kid is a nice guy, so I would very much like to keep him in the group.

Yes, let's wait. I want to continue this game with the same people who started it, even if that takes some time.

Thanks for that guys. I'll get the ball rolling this weekend and I'll keep you in touch with developments (when I can). If mt current ISP settles down then maybe we can carry on a bit anyway (though that won't change the fact that they are dumped. Dumped, DUMPED!)

In the process of changing ISP - I have at least cancelled my account with UKOnline. Still some weeks left on it though and it seems to be behaving itself (typical!). So if everyone fancies the risk may I suggest we recommence?

What would be the risk? If you can play for now, do so. On the other hand, periods of inactivity due to bad luck or RL bursts happen in any PBEM + our former turn rate was uncommonly high (from my own limited pbem experience, extremely so). I believe even Claus' strict 5 min turns a week policy was never meant to totally forbid such periods to happen. Every pbem has to deal with those - as long as there aren't too many players in the game, it can be expected that player absences don't overlap/chain such as to completely halt the game forever

More good news, my phone/online problems seem to have been resolved. Last weekend not even my telephone worked, so I had to exchange more hardware, now it's all okay again.

It's patch day. Are we gonna patch? There are some changes to expansive, creative and organized civs, none of which any of us play, some notable vassal bug fixes, and a MUCH improved AI (as far as i know most of the changes are about city placement and the city governor, especially use of slavery. there have been reports difficulty level noble is now the new prince and monarch the new emperor. The changes are actually a month old and stem from an apolytoner, only that i haven't tried them out yet, but now firaxis has incorporated them into the patch)
