    I added one line:

For clarity: we will retreat to were we came from.

(and then we will move SW next turn )

I plan to write the following message:

Bellerophon adresses the first Incan citizens he meets:

"Let me say it is a pleasure for me to be here near the sacred Gondar mountain and meet your proud civilization. Such a sacred place must surely be a good sign. It is a particular pleasure that we should have this meeting with your elders because we heard many stories about the Incan spirit of scientific curiosity, your beautiful works of art and your economical ability.

We like to develop our civilization side-by-side with yours and start a fruitful relationship which brings mutual progress. Furthermore we like to safeguard regional security and stability, and promote trust and coordination between the Incan and Apolytan nations. "

His scribe tries his best to translate Bellerophon's word into the diffcult Incan tongue:

Good suggestion.. as I am Dutch I know a little german..
so both German and English will be good.

Any suggestions for the message are appreciated.
By the way: do we set up an account for the diplo side of this game?

Are you sending the message in English or German or both. I know when team Civ.de signed up for the game they knew as did the other teams, English would be the common diplo language, but I wonder if some Deutsch would be seen as a friendly gesture and set a tone.

ok, i just wanted to do it, but i let you. (I wouldn't really do it if it was just up to me, because it's kinda double move, which they might take as an aggressive move on our part. (ok we won't declare war but they will see that we intentionally did this an they might get angry on us)

on GNP: at that time no one had 3 cities (holy rome just has now), gnp from espionage is added even without contact, researching small tech like mining actually makes gnp lower (0% bonus for mining, +40% for pottery), research bonuses from contacts are not that significant.
that particular civ has 8-10 more commerce than us which is a lot. at least we are second..

OK, so I vote for peaceful contact.

    If they have 3 cities and a cultural trait, it's 6culture + 4 ESP, a 10GNP difference.

What's that, like a 25% difference over us? Not knowing the numbers, it's hard to know if that's enough.

"My lord, let us ally with our neighbours now and ravage them later"

This are the videos played when you visit your council in Civilization II while in the medieval age. Which clips are played depends on the in-game situation....

I agree completely. Alliances in a game like this are the most important thing. Plus I'm most worried about CFC and Realms Beyond anyhow, so it'd be better to ally with someone else who is doing well (the germans). Let's make contact (like Cal suggested, a double move to throw them off) and then become buddy-buddy.

The civ that is top in GNP probably has met a neighbor so gets the 4 espionage, and tech boost from the neighbor. Or they could be inventing something basic like mining or something.

We have killed the lion, though not without injury, we need two turns to heal. (4/5 xp)
Good to see that the wait and fortify strategy worked

On rocketing tech: on the other hand there is no civ very much ahead of us in tech.. and our cottages will kick in soon.
