      The death of Romulus

Having declared before the Senate that peace between Hungary and Rome,
Romulus mysteriously disappeared in a storm or whirlwind, during or shortly after offering public sacrifice at or near the Quirinal Hill. A "foul suspicion" arises that the Senate
weary of kingly government, and exasperated of late by the imperious deportment of Romulus toward them, had plotted against his life and made him away, so that they might assume the authority and government into their own hands. This suspicion they sought to turn aside by decreeing divine honors to Romulus, as to one not dead, but translated to a higher condition. And Proculus, a man of note, took oath that he saw Romulus caught up into heaven in his arms and vestments, and heard him, as he ascended, cry out that they should hereafter style him by the name of Quirinus.

Livy repeats more or less the same story, but shifts the initiative for deification to the people of Rome:
Then a few voices began to proclaim Romulus's divinity; the cry was taken up, and at last every man present hailed him as a god and son of a god, and prayed to him to be forever gracious and to protect his children. However, even on this great occasion there were, I believe, a few dissenters who secretly maintained that the king had been torn to pieces by the senators. At all events the story got about, though in veiled terms; but it was not important, as awe, and admiration for Romulus's greatness, set the seal upon the other version of his end, which was, moreover, given further credit by the timely action of a certain Julius Proculus, a man, we are told, honored for his wise counsel on weighty matters. The loss of the king had left the people in an uneasy mood and suspicious of the senators, and Proculus, aware of the prevalent temper, conceived the shrewd idea of addressing the Assembly. 'Romulus', he declared, 'the father of our city descended from heaven at dawn this morning and appeared to me. In awe and reverence I stood before him, praying for permission to look upon his face without sin. Go, he said, and tell the Romans that by heaven's will my Rome shall be capital of the world. Let them learn to be soldiers. Let them know, and teach their children, that no power on earth can stand against Roman arms. Having spoken these words, he was taken up again into the sky"

Livy infers Romulus' murder as no more than a dim, doubtful and whisper from the past; in the circumstances, Proculus' declaration is wise and practical because it has the desired effect. Cicero's seeming familiarity with the story of Romulus' murder and divinity must have been shared by his target audience and readership.
Dio's version, though fragmentary, is unequivocal; Romulus is surrounded by hostile, resentful senators and "rent limb from limb" in the senate-house itself. An eclipse and sudden storm, "the same sort of phenomenon that had attended his birth", conceal the deed from the soldiers and the people, who are anxiously seeking their king. Proculus fakes a personal vision of Romulus' spontaneous ascent to heaven as Quirinus and announces the message of Romulus-Quirinus; a new king must be chosen at once. A dispute arises: should this king be Sabine or Roman? The debate goes on for a year. During this time, the most distinguished senators rule for five days at a times as interreges

To celebrate and remember a great new society changing invention, Carthaginian merchants have built the Colossus. It's inscription reads:

          Money

          Makes the trade
          rules the power

          makes the ships
          rules the waves

          makes the troops
          rules the politicians

          money is colorful
          when discovered

          money is for sharing
          money is for caring

          now

money, it’s all shine and glory.

            Massive volcano eruption near Utica

A volcanic eruption has devastated the country side around Utica.
Fortunately, the city itself has been spared.
A huge loss of life has been incurred and a massive economic loss.
A silver mine, an olive orchard and a complete fleet of fishing boats has been lost.

While the cities youth were getting ready to found a new colony, all labor has been reshuffled towards the economic rebuild. Let us pray for Utica and the families involved.

              War with Egypt

Life was rough in Anatolia. Around the Mediterranean powerful kingdoms grew and became fat on lush rivers and plentiful farms and plantations. The Turks had to scrape out a living from our harsh, unyielding hills and mountains. As we fought to extract nutrients from the soil the Egyptians became fabulously wealthy working the rich banks of their mighty rivers. They have become rich, and fat, and weak. While they built beautiful temples and libraries, we built weapons of war. Our gods did not give us an easy life, but we have become strong through adversity. Strong enough to take from the rich and the well fed.

It is for this reason we have declared war on Egypt. May they tremble before us.

                3 turns ago, in Thebes

An agitated messenger interrupts the Pharaoh's party.
-Oh, Great Pharaoh Alzheimotep, I bring dire news. We have spotted a huge Ottoman army gathering few steps away from Jerusalem. They are about to invade us with such a huge army unheard before in history.
-So what? This is why you disturb me? That's why we built the Great Wall, didn't we?? According to the rules they can not cross it, so if there is nothing else..
-Am.. one more thing Wise Pharaoh.. Our agents claim that they have many evidences that half of the Ottoman army has actually Persian origin. They tend to give fancy names to their armies and now they retained these names in the Ottoman army. The so called power graph what our agents sent us also..
-Enough... the Persians are not barbarians, they are our friends. We just recently gifted them a settlers unit as a sign of our friendship. See they have even built a nice road leading to Jerusalem so they can send us their gift sooner, now begone, these ladies are getting bored, aren't yooou..?

The messenger bows deeply and leaves the room. Outside the grand commander of the Egyptian army is waiting for him.
-Now I want to hear every detail, and from now on you don't disturb the Pharaoh. He is busy, you will directly report to me.
                -Yes, commander..

-We have managed to get a precise number of the enemy army, Sir: They are 7 chariots, 7 axemen, 5 spearmen, 3 archers and possibly a loaded galley, 23-25 enemy troops.
                  -And our defense forces?
-We have 3 axemen and a warrior protecting the 3 eastern cities, in the capital region we have one more axeman and a warrior, but they are too far away, they can't make it in time.
-Not looking too good.. the question: Do they know that we know they are coming?
-There is a chance they don't. We only know about this because a pilgrim from Damascus warned us. If Damascus wasn't an Islam city it would had been a complete surprise.
-There is one thing we can do now.. we keep acting as we didn't know about the danger, but we start slaving every man and woman to raise armies.. also we need to start researching technologies which allow us to train other warriors than axemen.. most likely we are too late, but they won't get our cities without a fight. Hmm one more thing.. about that persian road.. we must try to destroy it.. every turn we delay them a new soldier is born.. send out the warrior.. tell them they likely get their heroic death for the Pharaoh, but their heroism will be remembered.
                  -Yes, Commander..

Letter to the barbarian leader (can they read at all??)

Greetings leader of the brabarian forces,

I am Hor-Aha, grand commander of the egyptian army. We have an offer for you to consider, let's see if you are wiser than an average filthy barbarian.
We can imagine what kind of deal you made with the Persians, but do you really know what kind of people they are? We thought we had great fiendship, an ancient agreement that we deliver them a settlers as part of our border treaty. And we did, sooner than we promised and they took it with smiling face.. immediately starting to ploy on our downfall.
Your army is truly impressive, greater than anything ever existed and now you have a choice how to use it.
One scenario is that you continue with your plan, best case you will take my 3 eastern cities paying a huge price, but then what? You can't break Egypt, you will always have to watch your back because we will not rest until we take back or rebuild Jerusalem. And you will have a neighbor, the Persians, who are known for their betrayal.. you will never be able to trust them.
So why don't you turn on the betrayers? They are spineless people, don't deserve anything better. Since you have most of their armies with my help it will be an easy victory to wipe them out then you can keep all the Persian cities.
So history give you a chance to decide: a hard fight with an questionable outcome and uncertain future or an easy fight with great, guaranteed gain. Think about the future of your nation. What would your offspring think of you if you missed this great opportunity?

                    Hor-Aha, Grand commander of Egypt.

Again the God Eventualis has hit Carthaginians..

Now a forge in Carthage has burned down.

                      People pray:

"Please Eventualis don't hit us again with your wrath.
But send us now your gifts of plenty.
                      Haven't we suffered enough ?"

It seems Eventualis is a hard god to please..

A brutal battle has been reported near Jerusalem. More than 20 troops have been perished, 3 great generals have been born (2 Egyptian, one Turk) but the war is not over yet..
Though the Egyptian soldiers are enthusiastic there is no celebration in Egypt after this victorious battle.. none of them are keen to even smile with so many whip scars on their back.. cities ruined, land pillaged, but Egypt will stay strong.. our enemies will get a lesson from fighting spirit.

Hand of God has been found

In the desert near Leptis Magna the Hand of God has been found.
Jewish travellers from all around the known world come to see this miracle.

As a result of this miracle the Jewish faith can rejoice in a lot more believers.
Now it is clear that it is the One and Only True religion.

Still we Carthaginians believe that conversion should come from within.
We are of the conviction that each man should decide upon his own religion.

Somewhere in the rigid Balkan peninsula

"Look these dust clouds on the horizon, father! A great storm is coming!"

"Oh, my son.. this is something way fearsome than a simple storm. This is the Bulgarian horde!

The Khan is going to war!"
