      • I'm sorry; haven't posted recently. I was the Native American player. I have no interest in continuing the game with the massive changes under discussion. Frankly, I only have limited interest in continuing the game if we had no changes, since the personalities have been revealed, some of the strategies discussed, and considerable bad feeling been aired.

I think it is unfortunate that some players decided to bolt from being upset. Letting your emotions become invested in the happenings of the game is a bad thing. But I will also point out that too many players in the game have voiced frustration with the effect of the Russo-Ottoman-English alliance for that alliance to continue to maintain that their actions did not contribute to the game's demise. And while I know the Ottoman player loves to argue, frankly, that's not a good or wise thing; a little humility and concessions to opposing viewpoints make a player much more desirable as a gaming partner. Especially true when you are "winning" a game.

MY preference would be to take the players who have been interested in this game and committed to playing it to engage in a new game, with fewer players. One of the troubles we've had is that we never really had 18 players totally committed to the game, even before life intervened. At the end of the game, several players were doubling up on civs, and that's never a good thing.
I play Europa Universalis II; I dabble in everything else.

        • Sorry to see Natives go.

Since Natives were pacifist, and not really aligned with any alliance, it shouldn't affect the continuation of the game much right? Even more so since we are just continuing without any changes, and even more so because they were going to be aligned with Communists anyway. So we can either partition Natives or put them to AI and move on. Still need to hear from France and Vikings right?

          • He didn't say he was leaving. Just that he was losing interest.

            • Well if me admitting something or making some verbal concessions will keep Natives player interested, it would be helpful if Natives player would say specifically what concessions he would like to see me say.

France is here. Just back from travels. Neandor was looking after my turns, as nothing was happening when I left.

I gather the game has 'evolved' once again. Going to do some reading and try to catch up.

                • I've read up to October 14, and Toni's report (funny thing, I always thought Toni was Neandor.... ), but have a dinner party to go to. Will finish catching up tomorrow.

But to confirm - if the game goes ahead, I am in.

                    Great news

I always considered France a warrior, so no big surprise he wants we to continue.

(I'm still reading the thread... would have been quicker if you guys had not written so much ... )

The simple solution there woukld be to return Guardaia to its rightful owners.

Everyone knows that's Axis so just stack the deck in their favor and be done with it. I am dead serious. We are never going to agree on balance. The only way the Axis players won't quit is if they have an indisputable advantage.
C'mon. This is going a bit too far. I can't speak for the previous Neandor player. I was not here when he quit - but I do know that RL work was heavy on his time, and his mind. And the Viking player was new to diplo-gaming, and as he has explained more than once, it is not for him. I am still here, and have fought through good times and bad. So cut this crap you stated above. It is not helpful.

As to us being the Axis, our enemies have come with that name - not us. We are ACE, the Alliance of Central Europe. We are neither fascist, nor dictatorships. France remains a progressive monarchy, similar to Neandor. The Vikings are a weird form of religious oligarchy, that not even its allies understand.

At the very least, it killed the game for those on the "losing" side).

If you guys want to do that, fine, but I didn't spend the last year creating a peaceful, "builder" nation to toss it in the end in a 'global war to end all civ global wars' thing. If everyone wants that, I'll certainly play along, but I'd prefer it if we either dropped this approach or excluded me from it at least. I will say that I'd still be marginally attached to England in regards to its Incaco territories (death to any who tried such an invasion), but I don't really want to take a part in this after I spent the last few months trying to forge some sort of an independent path.
I agree totally with this, India.
