I am back if anyone is able to unpause!
I think the BIGGEST problem here is that I have so little time left in the turn to play that an unpasue is risky because turn might roll.
Anyway, I would be in favor of adopring a rule that in the future reloads will only be given in the sole discretion of the host, regardless of the reason for the reload request. That way host can decide whether a reload is warranted or not without any accusations of 'rule manipulation', or 'turning the game into a court of law', etc. Afterall, if players are going to complain about the rules being invoked or enforced then why have any rules at all?Mexico Emerges as a New Player on the International Stage - Mexico City Times

I have played my turn but I am still logged in. Should I pause for Neandor?
In any case, for the record I am respecting the Aztec non-DoW as an actual DoW to be a good sport even though I dont have to so for the record, Aztec have first move and I will be sure to logout before the turn rolls. I am at peace with America but we still have to negotiate, so Aztec gets first move to decide what to do.Mexico Emerges as a New Player on the International Stage - Mexico City Times

Just a few clarifications:
FIRST
- The rule that forbids double moves during wartime or to start a war has game mechanical reasons.
Civilization is designed as a sequential turn-based game. In Pitboss games we play it simultaneously though for time and pragmatic reasons.
During war-time double moves are forbidden because a double move gives an unacceptable game mechanical advantage to the double mover. These advantages aren't possible if there is technically no war in both parts of the double move.
If there is technically no war, no party can get game mechanical advantages. (in fact the only 2 non-war advantages by double moving are settling a city or taking a hut. but we have accepted these b/c they're unavoidable.)
So if there is technically no war, then there is no double move rule and no turn order.
In Character DoWs are certainly nice for story telling, but have nothing to do with the war-time double move rules b/c these rules are just made for game mechanical reasons.
SECOND
- To preserve the turn order and avoid double move discussions we pause the game for civs that are at war and aren't able to move in time.
Civs that are not at war do not get a pause. It's very simple, it's a part of a pitboss game. Sometimes you miss a turn.
It's very nice to pause a game for a player, but we should simply not do it. It stops the game way too much.
So:
- if you want to keep to some turn order: declare technically war
- if you want to get the game paused for you: declare war
I am glad that things seem to have been worked out.
But just for future reference.
Snoopy369 advised us on Pitboss stuff just before we started our first Pitboss Diplogame, years ago.
He said that "double moves are the bane of pitboss games"
All pitboss games are haunted by fights and arguments over this rule. It's no problem, we have all done it more or less.
The rules sometimes seem to be silly, but they are there for a reason. Perhaps that reason is not always clear in every situation, but if it's not visible in your situation, it is in another situation. Even that 'turn before the war' rule which was also advised to us by Snoopy369. He used to be the pitboss guru.
I have mailed 2K and asked them to please double please keep this in mind for the pitboss server of civ5.
Just one option: simultaneous games with sequential turn order for civilizations at war and auto pausing.
It's very simple. Now let's hope that Greg 2K takes requests from Robert Plomp of Apolyton seriously
Maybe it helps if we all mail him. Greg is a Pitboss fan, he created civstats.com!!!
So all nations at OOC fights and war over DM situations, don't blame yourself or the other. It's the pesky bane of pitboss gaming.
Those who have never been into a Pitboss DM online ***** fight argument that think that fighters are silly idiots: you'll be next :P It'll come to all of us one day! Keeping us awake at night; buwHAHAHAHAHA
