  • I've got a city which doesn't grow anymore for the last 20 turns or so..

It eludes me how this could happen..

It keeps on having full food, I have overproduction of at least 6 food per turn..

What could be wrong?? I've seen this never before in all my civ games..

    • Do you have any installed mods?

I see a lot of times when someone joins that the game says that the player have different version of some files and we must check if its trusted player.

Try this - remove some of the citizens that the city starts to lose food and once it is down a bit and then let it grow again.

      • Or whip one population - usually it must say "growth" instead of "growing 1 turn"

        • Nope, I already whiped, no effect.

Mods are not running except of course DoE..

          • PS. I would like to see if you can invent a role for the nanny during the Russian Revolution

            • Hah! She already have a very important role - she is feeding the whole Catherine's headquarter. We, the Slavs have a saying - "The food makes the mood" (Quite loose translation in order to keep the rhyme)

Maybe you are not running, but you do have other mods installed?

              • Currently Russia is at war with Neandor, France, Vikings and India plus Turkey are at war with Neandor plus England are at war with France. The turn order is set as follows:

                Neandor, Vikings, India and England move in the beginning of the timer;

                Then Russia and Turkey

                And then France

Sorry for the inconvenience of the complicated turn order when it comes to Russia.

                • Aztecs: do you have the governor button for prevent growth clicked by accident? Dunno if that would work like that, but it's the only thing I can think of.

                  • Grunt!

I understand Neander is at war now. Just so you know I am quite ill and having to work on a deadline project. I can play my turns and just keep up with PM's. I skim the threads but probably miss a lot. A shame as Neander has good diplo score and lack of posting now threatens

I will try to post quick headline news but please see lack of posting as not lack of spirit. This is a great and interesting game.

                    double grunt..

                    • Inca: that was the golden tip.. the avoid growth button was checked...

Thanks a lot. I guess this has been on since I took over the Aztecs..
Well, that did cost me quite some POP.

                        • Well that's good... I certainly feel vindicated by the previous Ottoman player. I can rest easy that I am maintaining some continuity.

And I agree that Israel/Egypt had a whole storyline planned out (ie mirror the RL historical Israeli people) that was kind of derailed... and the commitment to it despite the IG impossibility is at least partly at play in the most recent conflicts.

I kinda wish Israel had reinvented itself after losing Jerusalem instead of holding fast to the RL "in a mirror darkly" (a la star trek) version of Israel... certainly would have made life easier for Ottomans anyway

                          • Well, I was surprised that the Ottomans didn't saw it coming that Jerusalem was supposed to become the holy city of judaism, especially b/c of all the stories about the holy mount Moria and after all the diplo messages back and forth about why Jerusalem exactly had to be found on the mount moria
But I can totally understand that the Ottomans didn't want that city on my border

It was also supposed to become the holy city of christianity, after Jerusalem's razing I had to invent Bethlehem

I for the record had not the intention to follow Israel's real storyline. I had the intention to become big and powerful, and then I would start to try to stop all nations from spreading judaism or adopting it as a state religion. Trying to raze all cities in the end that would have jews in their population
That was my idea, a brand new interesting concept

But well, when my neighbors started 434BC, 67AD and 1939AD then there wasn't much of a choice left for me :P

And well, I wasn't very active in my attempts to get Jerusalem back, untill the Ottomans decided to park their entire army on my soil, not fearing me at all....!
Then I was inspired by how the Russians uber-backstabbed me in Dance of Civilizations! Then my entire army was as well on Russian soil, they declared war, catapulted the hell out of it and then destroyed the remainings....
stupid me forgot that the Russians didn't win that war in the end........ I'd pick my inspirations in a better way next time!

Or am I out of the loop that the cat was out of the bag?

If that's who I think it is I was totally off...
