Destiny of Empires [Diplo Game] [Organization Thread]
That is probably the issue. Move it to the Mods file by going through the c drive and program files exactly as detailed above. Then when you hit Load a Mod you should see Destiny of Empires come up with the other mods.
I am aware that building pyramids was a risk, but with slow growing cities without much gold output possible I needed to do something with my hammers until I learnt things I could build without overdoing units becuase that has a gold cost. But with 2nd city badly located, it became unable to both build worker for development and units to defend both cities within a reasonable time frame. Another complicating factor is that it is not always possible to move more than once a day, and therefore barbs can encroach close to city before I can respond if I have missed 1 or 2 turns with the 8 hour clock. I am away at work usually for about a 10 hour period with that being extended to up to 14 hours occassionally. Even if I move before work and then after work I can still depending on the clock miss a turn. Several times before work I have been unable to move because of firewall conflicts? with player already in the game, this is also an issue when I have at most 5 minutes to spare to do my turn.
Because of these factors I had lost some units to barbarians and had barbarians do some damage prior to the internet going down. That just made a poor position much worse. Due to missed turns I took 2 turns longer than I should have to move chariot and archer from 2nd city to capital to respond to new attacks (previous barb attacks had always been aimed at 2nd city). These lost turns allowed pillaging of 2 high production squares, which actually delayed pyramid completion by several turns and therefore delayed the possibility of switching to unit production earlier.
While there are barb attacks a 8 hour clock will continue to create problems and result in potential for further unit losses, pillaging, worker stealing by barbs etc.
I think part of the problem is that is not where mine resides. My install is under My Documents/My Games/etc...
That is where I have the "Destiny of Empires" folder.
I don't know anything about windows 7, but in other windows versions, under 'my documents' is the folder with game data, not the game itself. That's somewhere in 'program files'.
You have to check out where your civ4 shortcut leads to. look at it's properties. That's the program directory where the mod should be placed under, I think.

I've never known us to pause because someone who isn't at war is having access problems (arabia). Isn't that what subs are for?
India/Mongolia - we need to decide what is possible and then do it.
I guess that RP adding units isn't possible, and I can't imagine that neighbours giving enough units is going to be feasible in a reasonable time scale, given there are two ntions to help and only three who have borders with them (Arabia, Russia, China). So I think that giving both to Mongolia is probably the best option, though it needs examining. It doesn't give immeidate benefit - which might mean it isn't good - but it means that even if now they look small and underdeveloped, when then choose to merge they get a great leg up.
Maybe there are other options. If not, we need to eliminate the ones which can't work, and choose from the remaining.
(Or we can decide that on principle we don't do OOC fiddling, because once youstart when do you stop. Problem then is that you soon get some weaker nations which are either completely dormant, which spoil the strategic geography, or which just become unearned prey for larger nations particularly if we are finding it hard to get players for them.)
The Priest is right, I had hoped that Arabia would have solved it's problems sooner.
Arabia: please contact someone to sub for you. If you PM me your password then maybe someone else can sub for you while you figure out your technical problems.

Well, your problem is not that part of your install is there, I have a folder there too, that's supposed to be there, but that's not where you should put the mod. I did that at first and then I had the exact same problem. So just follow the instructions and you should be fine.
So I go, and do what I can ~ Dwight 'Diplo' Eisenhower
Arabia: look at the properties of the shortcut you use when you start Civ4:BtS
That'll show you where your civ4-bts folder is. Just rightclick on the shortcut and press 'properties'.
I'm starting the game now and I'll create a new password for you and let you and France know it. Then France will sub for you till you got it figured out.
