  • If I unpause right now? These pauses with this war are becoming like forever...

    Comment

    • Please don't, as I am getting groceries to make family dinner. In 3 hours time anyone can unpause without fear. I will be able to finish my turn by then for sure.

We fought a much longer war, often with six civs involved, with nary a pause.

                      • For the record, there are about 14 hours in the typical day where I can't respond or play (I don't like to do this after a certain hour, then I sleep, then I go to work, then I might have time, or might need to wait another couple hours like today), and usually those hours overlap with the hours where most RL-American players can respond or play, so I hope this clears up any confusion with anyone over why I might take more time with certain replies than others. That said, I don't have time now to respond to PMs or anything much, and won't for a couple hours or so, so be patient please.

                        • Wake up 15 minutes earlier and play then
Or go to sleep 15 minutes later and play then.
That's what always works for me.

                          • @ Ottomans : if you sign the treaty as suggested by me in the story thread (the diplomacy screen screenshot), then you may log in and accept the treaty unchanged (as then turn order does not apply anymore).

Otherwise we continue according to the turn order.

                            • First, even if the action of Azteca was technically illegal (capturing Miami and then gifting it to America), I am NOT disputing it as I want to be a good sport, and plus I intended to return Miami and Texcoco unconditionally anyway, following the Americans statement that they rejected the NAP.

However, for future reference I would like to know what the rule is on this. Can you capture a city and use the "Return Control to XZY civ" command or the "Liberate XYZ city" command to gift a city even when you are at war? How about after you capture it? Can I capture a city, keep it for a few turns, and then use the "Liberate" button to gift a city even when I am at war?

From what happened in the log, it seems like this is what happened. So if it was legal... Cheers! and well played. If it was illegal, no worries, no reloads, play on, just want a clarification on the rules in case it is an issue down the road.

                              • Just for clarity: we liberated Miami the moment it was captured.

I think it is best to make a clear distinction between LIBERATING AT CAPTURE and CHANGING CONTROL.
The easy part of this is that is can be checked by all players in the event log. If you see the sentence about "act of generousity", " ...liberated.. ") then it is ok, otherwise it is not.
