I have only made the AI settle a city for him so that he won't fall behind too far.

He can continue to play, his password is now. (thus nothing, not the word 'blank' )

    • The player that I had to AI asked for a reload b/c the AI had founded the city on a horrible place for him. I thought that might be best to do now and not give him a horrible start.

I have a save so we can undo the reload if you guys want.

          • Now other players "lost" their cities, we should watch and pause the game if necessary..

            • people 'lost' their cities? No, we only have gone back in time, cities have to be rebuilt!

              • You know what I mean. They might think that it's safe to miss a turn or two because their cities are working. They should not "suffer" because of an unexpected reload. I hate waiting too, but it's not their fauilt. (btw talking about the viking and the american civ.)

                • Hmm, good point! No, I didn't understand you, but now I do
                  Game has been paused.

America/Vikings: please register a "America (DoD)" and a "Vikings (DoD)" Apolyton account and send me a PM when you expect to be ready. (include multiple moments, in the format of: '2 - 3 hours from now, 8-10 hours from now and 14-17 hours from now'.

                  Thanks.

                  • and so we wanted a game without complications, reloads..
In the meantime, Robert, can you make an other game where we could test that no-score mod? only a test game for a few turns

                    • Learning lessons here - which is fair enough.

But I am confused now as to what reload is about to, or has already, happened, and how to ensure others of us are not caught out by when things start again (depending on where it restarts from may or may not have turns loaded etc.).

                      • So whats the deal guys? I tried to get into the game this morning, only to get timed out-several times-& now I won't get access to the game again for at least another 14 hours. Now if its the game which was already in progress, then this won't be a problem for me, as I've got everything sufficiently queued up for the next 2-3 turns at least. However, if we've "time-traveled" back to the start of the game, again, then this represents a *serious* set-back for me. I consider such a set-back extremely UNFAIR given how punctual, overall, I've been in the game these last few days.

Needless to say, if the latest reload causes me to lose my location &/or time spent on tech, unit/building construction etc etc-then I might really have to reconsider my commitment to the current game. This is my first *proper* exposure to Pitboss, & recent experiences are leaving me less than impressed !

                        Aussie.

                        • I know Cyber you are wanting fair play here but I think it might be back firing. I don't think we can manage this like a traditional diplo game.

It should just keep running I think, else we create delays and confusion on such a tight timer.

Are Maya mucking around with us? They didn't log in for several turns then as soon as you set them to AI they complain. I apologise in advance if I've got this interpretation wrong. Did it look like their settler was exploring (for a city site) or was it just stationary. If it was just sitting there then he is not playing properly and we should not be delayed (i.e. keep as AI until a player properly claims it and plays on from that point).

In fact I'd suggest put up the last save where all cities had been built. This is spoiling the simple fun. Easy for me to say this in hindsight I know...

                            • Good call. And yes I think Deity is right in saying that Robert you have become so good at trying to ensure fairness in DoC that I can see its going to be hard to stand back. Seriously I mean that - you have done an amazingly good job in DoC, putting in pauses, keeping your eye on whether poeple at war have taken their turns etc. to ensure fairness, and I have no doubt that has been a key reason in why there have been so few arguments it in. I'm slightly sceptical as to how DoD will work without any sort of rules/refereeing but that is what we have all signed up for, and there is probably a fair a chance it will work in a different but fun, rough and ready, way. But as I think this case has shown, there probably are no half measures - lets just let the timer role and RP enjoy some time to drink more beer.

He certainly logged in at the start. I don't recall a world leader in history who has ever been called 'German Goo Goo Girl'! Maybe I am wrong?
