I spent last night working on the map for deity's game, and haven't worked on this game's map yet. I'll do that tonight! Yay!

Ok, I worked on the map a bit, but I'm not 100% finished yet. I shrunk it, so I cut off tiles from the east, south, and north to make it as compact and playable as possible. Now I just need to add in our mystery civ (I'm leaning toward Ukraine) and do some more tweaking and we'll be good to go.

I'll try to setup a 2nd Pitboss Server on my 2nd server for you guys.
Just me the save I must load and the detailed settings. (open a pitboss game yourself to see what settings are required! don't let me guess )

it should be possible to set up a static IP by fooling around with your settings a bit...

iirc, you need to tell windows that you will be using IP such as such rather than having one assigned automatically.
as for isp, that can be a bit of trouble, but most of them run your router through a central router, assigning you a dynamic ip on the network. there is a way to figure that all out somewhere somehow...

if you bring up the command window and type in ipconfig you will get your standard gateway as well as internal ip addresses. (router (standard gateway) and local comp)). if things turn out to be impossible, maybe I will be able to help... I'm thinking of making some upgrades to my comp soon and then the leftover parts will likely go to a fool-around-with linux machine\file server\pitboss server. but that will take several weeks at least.

I will play and I don't reckon 7 is too small for Europe. It could be a quick game and rather like the old classic board game 'Diplomacy' which I remember playing over many a drunken Sunday afternoon. 7 would be ideal as you should have.

Germany
Italy
Austria
Turkey
Russia

If you do an advanced start you can pile on the pain for Russia and with an Austria as well as a France next door Germany has no easy ride.

Turn Spain, Serbia, Poland and Sweden into AI and neither England or Turkey have an easy ride either.

Have to be careful not to be too unkind to Russia as on such a map Turkey becomes the number 1 favourite and England always will be a great choice. Italy will be last on the list but only a tiny bit behind France.

ozzy, I will be playing in the new big diplo that Cyber starts after DoC; plus he will be hosting the non posting "deity rules diplo game" - quite a few want a break from posting.

I'll still play in New Horizons provided it is not succession but will not post a lot. I'd rather be a backup.

I won't let you down ozzy if I'm needed and may learn a bit from succession...

I suppose if we really wanted to we could start with just 7, but that would present even more spacing problems. Since DoC is finishing soon perhaps we could convince mzprox to stay in. Then again, since this game is built around swapping civs, it wouldn't hurt us to have an AI or two. Perhaps as time goes on people will want to join and fill those extra spots. Until then though people will be moving around, so every civ will have its time as an AI.

The biggest question though, if we hope to save this game, is who will host? I'd like to try, but I don't know what I'm doing and I need help.

Seems that Diplo with lots of posting is not everyones cup of tea.

The Deity version (realy just a PITBOSS) seems to have taken most people, not because Robert Hosting it i doubt, but i think because it is jsut a regular PITBOSS game with some minor rules changes.

Well I guess this game is dead then. Everyone is jumping ship and I left my computer on all weekend to try and test out hosting but no one seems no one tried to test.

Oh well. I guess the only diplos that will ever happen are ones that CS hosts and organizes. *shrug*
