    green: oceans
    purple square: starting location

    Advantages:
    - all civs can contact each other immediately
    - lots of islands to discover / settle
    - much sea passages, naval is important!
    - more discovery when the age of ocean sailing arrives

If all civs start on 1 continent there won't be the importance of the navy!

    *10-13 cities is plenty

*Again i would like to point that it would be better for the game to have all civs on one land mass - the result will be an explosion of everything (War,pacts, treaties, diplomacy etc) Civs starting on two seperate continents was a good experiment, still as we all saw it turned all to be pretty boring, only in the later game with modern ships it became more interesting.

Ok, the map is done (just some very minor tweaking left for balance purposes). It is roughly CS' concept. There are three main land masses that are all very close to each other, plus other chunks of land across the seas.

The map is very balanced, but still very interesting and unique.

I agree totally with Toni about limiting the amount of space, I did. I ran some tests (just letting the AI play) and after 200 turns on quick (everyone was starting to build spaceships) the AI built, on average, 15 cities per civ, (15 civs). The civ with the most had 21, and the civ with the least had 7. Big difference, I know, but with conquest & uneven colonization it worked out that way. Most civs were near the mean.

      • Epic.

        • I will go with the flow but I really do think this is too cramped.

          • Cramped = fun.

(as long as everyone is equally cramped)

              • Dosen't cramped also mean people might be resource starved? On the other hand it might stop peacemongerer steamrollers.
