Great summary of what sounded a great game!!!

Poly Diplo guys, I'd be real interested to be part of the next diplo game. I have a lot on my plate right now, but hopefully things will ease come the NZ winter......

Please let me know when you set things in motion for the next game, and I'll keep one eye on the relevant location in the meantime......

hey Rob, if you would like to try your hand at diplogaming there's a pitboss game running now in desperate need of a sub, France is 3rd in HotwXII (12) and has no player. We try to play about 1 turn per day, so not much time required. If you're interested, please visit our thread here in the multiplayer section and give a heads up

@LzPrst: yes, but that hasn't much to do with the number of players, imho.
Next game the civs should be closer to each other, and maybe not spread out over 2 continents.

I think the map is awesome, but just too large.
People losing interest in a game happened in all diplogames.
The good thing about this 18 player game is that it doesn't harm the game that much if someone bails out.
There's enough room for creating alliances, making new deals, etc.

I think that one of the + of our game is that the alliances are much more dynamic.
If all civs would be closer together, and not spread over 2 continents, things would've been much more interesting.

@RobWorham: awesome! I'll keep you informed. Keep an eye on this forum!

I'd certainly be interested in subbing - temporarily or permanently??

I'm off on a trekking vacation from end of Jan to end of Feb, so not sure if 2 weeks will help you out much though. After my vacation I'll be available on a regular basis.....

Could you provide links with all the setup details (map settings, what is the turn timer set to??, etc), and a what's happened so far thread. I don't mind whether it's a summary or multi-pager.....

there is no turn timer cause the game started as a live game, but was converted to pitboss. but we have a spoken agreement to try to play 1 turn per day.

details: terra map, large, 8 civs (originally 9)
the dutch, the inca and the mongols have been the leading civs from early on. the ottoman were advanced and well set but emigrated their entire civ to the new world (not all voluntary). in later times france and america have made great advances and are considered world powers as well. russia and mali are developing rapidly and may well catch up and compete for world power status.
currently france has stumbled a bit due to an idiotic declaration of war against holland based on poor communication and judgment. if resolved without too much disadvantage resulting, france will be back as a force to be reckoned with.

the year is around 1800 and the leading civs are in the late industrial age, the arms race is currently at bombers, tanks, artillery and battleships. france is a decent sized military force (though have just lost a lot to holland).

that's the summary. if you want the multipage version we have several threads of story writing, some of which is absolutely first class and worth reading.

currently we have had christmas break and that will likely continue until we get a sub for france. it is likely to be semi-permanent, not sure if someone else wanted to take over...

OK, I'll get to grips with the story thread as soon as possible and be ready to roll when you guys resume from your Xmas break. I'll keep an eye on this thread and the multiplayer forum, but if someone could PM me with 48 hours notice of the restart I would appreciate it!!!
