Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, I think the combination of vouchers/votes is the best avenue. Any land gained BECAUSE OF/DURING A DOUBLE MOVE should probably be returned too. But I don't think we should take any land as a penalty for using the double move.

@ Raz; I don't think Cybershy is necessarily against this, and if he agrees with this it would probably be best for him to suggest this in the organization thread and we can get votes there. I would suggest the people vote via e-mail (probably in tandem with the next round of voting) so we don't cause another argument.

as i said it doesnt matter what advantage they get in game as the penalty on their voting score wil lbe great.

potentially taking 3/4 of your final score.

so to take a land grab with a double move is the sign of someone tryong to win at all costs. so losing the votes which is the only way to win this GAME is very costly..

I don't think he will be against this too much, he might consider the punishments harsh but this is really the only way to make sure we avoid people cheating. Which is the primary point of all of this. And he doesn't have to agree necessarily, he just has to agree to put it up to secret ballot. Which I am sure he will be willing to do so long as we do it at the next round of votes so it doesn't become extra work for him.

I have been silent on this aspect - until now.

I agree with Korea, Capo, Vikings and Japan, We have RULES - "if someone abuses [them] we decide punishment on the spot!"

I don't see how anybody could disagree with these punishments, as long as they intend on following the rules that is. I move to put this to vote, all ballots to be taken with the NEXT round of voting. Officially we will follow the old format until this is voted upon. All votes will be kept private to protect those that intend on cheating so let it be written, so let it be done...

What does Cybershy say to this?

he wil ldrop by once he has time , he is movign house and his expanding family are a work load in themselves.

this is a 3 part issue.

                    1. Is a penalty necessary at all
                    2. If yes. Should the penalty be based on the advantage gotten or a standard penalty.
                    3. What should the penalty/s be ?

                    Comment

                    • In the interest of getting a solid vote on this and finally ending the issue I say we don't leave it so open to more debate, we should combine the punishments. I've lineated there is a normal break which will result in losing 5 tech vouchers and 25% of your total votes (Up to that point), the second would be a gross misuse, which I described as killing multiple units, taking multiple slaves (workers), taking/destroying a city or a settler or a great person and doing it with clear intent you will lose 50% of your total votes (up to that point) and 10 tech vouchers. We should keep it at that as far as the severity of the penalty goes.

This mixes both tech vouchers and votes, and mixes a standard (the former penalty) and a penalty based on the severity of the act (the latter penalty).

This I think is the simplest way to do it, it will result in less debate, and satisfies all positions in the debate.

it is simply a logical progression from one event to another.

the double move created the whole mayan advantage
That's a BS way of reasoning.
A valid move can cause troubles, that doesn't make the valid move invalid or worth a punishment.

I'm never going to reload the game for small reasons.
A reload hurts everybody and many reloads will hurt the game.
We will have endless debates on everything that happens. "Please reload, this happened and we reloaded when that happened as well"

You shouldn't see people that easily as purely evil. People can also make mistakes. If the drawbacks aren't bad there's no reason to freak out over it.

I think that you guys are reacting over the top over something small.

It's just the 4 of us debating it, you guys will never give in anyway. Like some people want the dead penatly for everyone who kills someone, even if it was by accident.
If you guys come to a suggestion, post it in the org thread and we can vote over it. If majority agrees we will adopt.

                            • I don't think it is an overreaction Cybershy. My main purpose for getting in on this is to prevent future arguments. If its simple as adding these penalties into the game (and if you read my posts I made exceptions for legitimate accidents, or leeway for situations where the player absolutely had to move to get the game going) then there should be no reason not to have them. Besides all of that, there's nothing wrong with putting it up to a private ballot that can't be debated.

Plus you guys came up with rules but no way of enforcing them, which is basically the same as never coming up with rules to begin with.

So, I think your attitude is not helping. There's nothing wrong with what has been done in here, if anything it shows people care about the game. If this is going to prevent future arguments, if this is going to prevent people from cheating, there should be no reason not to hold a vote on it. Why you would respond that way is beyond my understanding.
