well some of us arent scoring a lot either, too many barbs to fight t obe able to develop culture or anything else. if he didnt even get to build an army then he probalby suffering right now.

Sorry to piss you off Raz, but some fo the complaints about the "spamming" have merit. They do have points, I mean there probably wouldn't be as much complaining about it if it wasn't so rampant. I am guilty of it too, and am by no means saying I am not party to it, but there are a lot of pointless one sentence posts that either didn't need to be made or are out of place. So at least make an attempt to try and keep things organized. Part of the reason I think they care so much is because we try and keep these threads organized because we keep an archive of them and people may be less inclined to join a group with a bunch of whining and frivilous posting.

Let's just try and cooperate from now on, I'll do my best.

One thing I think you can do to help out in the diplogame genre is something I was thinking of; I think we need to get out there and get more people. I think we should keep our civgroup page updated, and we should create threads that discuss issues like pitboss v. normal play, anonymous rules, tech trades, etc.

Not only would these threads remove some of the arguments from the BtP threads, but it could also create a forum for these discussions to go down without bringing personal issues into the discussion. I can get started on it, but I think if you helped me Raz we can get a lot accomplished. So PM me and let me know if you want to help me out with this stuff.

I think we should try and branch out too, try and recruit people from CF, and expand the pool. These are just thoughts.

actually capo i totaly disagree. we not need more diplo players, well not in my opinion and i know i a fundametalist when it comes to DIPLO. but i think we have modified diplo so much to try and get others to play that it no longer is much different from normal play.

Every time i think this it occurs to me that DIPLO is like faith in a greater being.

When you have it you cant but help telling others how great it is. But when they come to look they dont like it. So like the churchs have done over the centuries, we change things, we accept they ways of the ones we trying to bting to join us, no matter how different it is from the way we started.

Yes i a fundamentalist i liked DIPLO in its early days , it was simple, it was meant to be a fun way of playing, winning wasnt such an issue.. it was a group of people enjoying the journey more than the end. but more people joined, they didnt like DIPLO games not having an ending , they needed a score syatem, someone had to win.

Yes i know i the voice in the wilderness, i dont expect people to even understand my point. I love Diplo. It is my only way of playing MP.

Raz I was around for a lot of the old diplogames and I have to tell you man; they weren't as perfect as you seem to remember. There were arguments all the time, people were quitting. In fact the first History of the World fell apart very quickly. We also tried new things a lot, we had tried to use a gigamap (remember those guys?), we used mods (HOTWII, Tales from the European Front), we made websites, Ozzy allowed people to vote for his leaders, we actually LET Sun Tzu play, so there is certainly an on-going tradition of trying new things. Its like real life, people always think the old days were better. And honestly there are a lot of players we have lost through the years (I was even gone twice, and both times I think were over a year), and these were really good players at least in a diplogame sense (not that the current pool isn't). We have also FOUND great players too over the years. So I have to disagree with what you just said, I think its better if we extend the community of diplogamers.

And diplogaming is not a religion, it has had to adapt over the different versions of civilization, and we have to adapt with it. Things have become a lot more in depth, people are using more pictures now in their posts, the stories are a lot different, and I haven't done a "newspaper" post in FOREVER.

And I am telling you, a lot of these issues are stemming from this being a pitboss game. Its different from the games you are used to, that's all. If you don't like the style you don't like the style, but diplogames are not doomed.

And as far as the endgame goes; I don't understand your logic. We used to use normal spaceship endings in diplogames, and people like you and I thought this wasn't appropriate enough to end the game. So we came up with this plan, and it still isn't enough for you. Someone is going to "win." You can either not care about it, or you can care about it. If you don't care who wins it won't bother you, and if someone wants to win let them try to win, it shouldn't make a difference if you are just in it for fun.

I don't see the harm in trying to create threads that deal with these issues appropriately and without personal arguments, I don't see the harm in trying to better organize the diplogaming community, to try and grow the diplogaming community. There were times when there were multiple games going on at once, that is sort of happening now, but it feels different; that part I agree with. But that's fine, and I think if we put more effort into making them better, without arguments, it will be good for everyone involved.

But you don't have to help me, I can do it on my own.

Aren't you aware of the fact that posting comments there is just killing the willingness of people to post and read stories. So please try not to kill that thread as well.

Someone who enjoys readying the stories gets quite disappointed when he logs in to see some comments rather than stories.
