  • But for God's sakes everyone, don't fall behind; and the key to staying up with the pack is to get workers straight up and Pottery early to get at least some Cottages.

Don't whinge about being behind if you don't get the basics of this game....

        You guys will love it.

Marathon with 2 turns a day the whole game after a quick startup session
I hate to disagree, but this would be terriable. You have to understand, anything less than a 22 hour timer is going to mean that some people will miss a turn on a regular basis, since some people only have the time/schedual to play one turn a day. Trust me, I would prefer if the game moved faster, but thus is the nature of pittboss. To borrow an anology from Ozzy...

Diplogames are champagne and opera to duel game's beer and tractor pull.
Well, pittboss is a lovely horse drawn carrage ride to multiplayers Formula 1 race. For example, I have spent over an hour thinking about my next move at times.

However the flip side of this coin is that because of how slow pittboss goes, marathon is out of the question for practical purposes. The game could literally take several years or more. No joke.

Diplo/gameplay post mandatory per 100 turns
I fully agree. 100 turns seems like a good number for both posting a story, and the periodic vote.

13-15 tech trade limit with no tech-brokering a la Heraclitus vouche variant
I would lean toward 15, since in HOTW12 we are now around gunpowder and pretty much everone has hit or is very close to hitting their 10 trade cap.

I'm not oipposed to civs doubling up
I am. Their are 32 civs if i am correct... which means that if everyone picks a different one we will have utilized just over half. For story purposes I think it makes alot of sense not to have doubles. Now, if two players are dead set on a particular civ that has multiple leaders then perhaps there could be a comprimise... but it should be the rare exception, not the norm.

            Same thing for bhuric's patch.

I just hope all who are pledging are prepared to participate in the diplo aspect of this game which includes making story posts and voting!

Perhaps it is time to discuss the expectations regarding this... and the penalties associated with not meeting expectations.

                • ok i got some concerns with this "auto" play style.

if my "scouts" find a worker or settler or unit in a hut, if i am automated for a few turns then these new units will be left with no moves. Very dangerous for workers and settlers.

8 hour timers to start, then switch to 24.

                    OR....

Somehow organize everyone to show up at the same time and play a real time game for an hour. This would burn through the first 20 - 40 turns while still allowing everyone complete control. Organizing this with 18 people would be a daunting task however...

                    • I doubt if it'll be possible to get everybody in for 1 hour, but it's defenitely worth a shot!

Maybe we should try to get someone who wants to tweak the map!

cant see how i could be online every 8 hours to play the game, this is looking like a problem for cross time zone players.

Blue Marble should not cause a problem so long as you're using a version of the game that doesn't CTD in a MP game with blue marble

Bhruic's patch would need to be installed as a mod, not as overwriting the Civ core files. I am not sure how it's normally installed, but as long as it's a mod it should be fine.

So basicly... i got to get a clean install...

I have Bhuric's game core .dll file, and lost the backup. Any idea of how to get the original file back ? Would re-installing the 3,13 patch do the job ?

This will only be the turn-timer for the early stage of the game. You can automate things so that you don't have to login to the game every 8 hours.
