I ended up subbing for someone in a great pitboss game and found it was a chain for many. You cant take vacations, its hard to find subs. so please for your happiness, make it on fast speed or spend more than a year trying to finish this one.
Nols.
Excellent points, Nols. Voice of experience speaking here folks.

Way too much. The Iliad had a 16 hour turn timer, and believe me, that got to be work.
24 hours per turn for a game like this works very well. It is still a bit of work, but manageable.
You are probably right. How about my other two proposals to speed the start up?

Well I say no more then 20hrs per turn PLEASE. Well the the people who have played PB know that it is actually longer then 20hrs. Timer stops while people load the game to take their turn so for example if we set it to 20hrs the real number comes to 23-24hrs.
I will be most happy with 16hr turns (With the delay comes to 18hrs)

Yes she is. That is why I think that is if we go marathon, we need to jumpstart the thing.
But I do think Cyber has a point, during peace time you could easily que up stuff for a 10 or so turns.

Having people not take their turn and count on que will leave the timer to run away thus having a very long turn. Of course if people are busy on vacation that works.
Team efford meaning people trying to take their turns ASAP will speed the whole game, especially in the beginning when its pretty slow.
The diplogaming community is seriously looking into starting a pittboss game using the diplogaming backbone.
We need more players. We are shooting for 18 total although we may settle for less. If you like the pittboss format, and always wanted to give diplogaming a try, this is your...
The idea sounds good, but I must say NO to it, generally during week can move at one time only during the day, with no guarantees I will have the time every day to do so due to other commitments and long distance trips, so I would probably act as a brake on a game that will go a long time anyway without that
I don't get this, dosen't a turn happen every day regardless if players log in and play or not?

Well H it depends on what turn timer we set it. If it's a 20 or 24hrs timer yes the turn will advance after that time expires roughly every day.
The point i was trying to make is that if all civs end their turn the game advances to the next turn even if there was say 10 hrs left for the timer to expire. If all end game progresses.
Interesting didn't know that. But a lot of people are looking for something with a low time commitment. They may not turn as fast as you want.

Agreed. And then Toni will be on their case.
I think 24 hours, or 20 as Toni stated above, and if folks want to queue up their turn and let the max time run, then so be it. Say up front that it is OK for folks to miss a few turns.
