Captain William Manning was comissioned by Christopher the Yankee to visit France and Holland. Holland, in keeping with their normal policy towards America, ignored the request. Christopher decided that it was important America contact France as well and decided that Manning would now march to France with a large contingent (in case they were attacked) of Axemen and Spearmen. It had been years, and so far there was no telling where France was, or what direction it was in. In general American travelers told that France was to the east, beyond Mongolia (yet another reason to travel with a large army), but so far they only encourted Incas. The Incan court was very accomodating to Manning's forces, allowing him entry at once and allowed them passage through numerous cities, including the capital.
"Come with me demon", motioned Count Tepes, "tell me of what I dream."
