Rah I checked your start spot for tonight's game, why did you build in that position? Building one south would have been far superior, despite losing the hills/plains. You could improve the food and use slavery until a bit later when the unhappiness becomes a nuisance, then convert the sheep/hills to a sheep/mine and perhaps even the pig/hills to a pig/mine for additional production. Your start seemed ideal for colossus rushing with numerous cities along the coasts, as you had quite a bit of food around with the seafood to help the island to the north to grow, the wheat to help a southeastern island city grow, and the corn to grow 2 cities to your northwest. All in all I would have been pleased with your start, as it is away from the action but still very plentiful in resources.

Funny that's where I started.
But being ragnar, I figured there would be fish or something so I moved the settler north confident that I would expose some. WRONG. And at that point I decided not to wait the extra turn to settle.
And I much prefer a start where these is a little more beaker potential early. My early techs were way to slow. Most of my early resources when to getting that first island set up and getting that iron. At that point except for the island every build was a cat to help the others since we were falling too far behind.
Just got beat to colosus. Without the sheep in range growth too slow to whip enough. In hindsight I should have wasted the turn to move back, but I thought I'd be building another city to take advantage of it, but there really wasn't much on the other side that playciv got to first. That island to the northeast didn't have any production potential except for that one jungle hill. I was getting techs so slow I didn't detour to iron.
It would have been a good whipping city, but my other two cities were considerably more of a priority. and by then it was just building units for a futile war.
All in all not my best game.
