    • Why do they need to make it? Why can't it be home grown at Apolyton?

      • Well, I saw that the mod-community of poly wasn't that big. If someone at apolyton can make it that would be great! Are you a modder?

          • Before we find a modder we need to decide what we actually want to be modded.

btw, I'm thinking we may have enough players for 2 games. One to wait for Warlords and one that can get going right away.

            • The reason I said one religion per civ was not to emulate real life by the way, it was to make the game MORE COMPETITIVE which, in essence, makes the diplomacy more important. I see we have some glory-hogs here, so I guess it won't happen, but I'm telling you; if we only allow one (founded) religion per civ, we make the game more interesting.

              Think about it...

              • Also, I think we should ALL wait for Warlords. Why start a game "right away"?

HOTW IV got started "right away" and look what happened, in fact you almost quit plalying Diplogames because of it!

                • HOTW IV was an excellent game that lasted till the end.

The fact is Capo though that our pool of players is getting larger, we are able to accomodate two games at once. We shouldn't put all our eggs in one basket here otherwise diplogaming will only be an elite genre played by a maximum of 10-12 people. We should have as many games going as the community can support.

If necessary, as I have a few ideas that could be useful, although I do agree with Ozzy:

                    • I feel there shouldnt be any cap on the number of religions you can invent (ok, maybe cap it at 3). the reason is that once you've got one you wont strive for more, reducing competition, not increasing it. also, not all religions should be massive worldspread faiths. some are IRL mostly national or regional, such as hinduism, taois, confucianism. it depends on the focus of the player.

putting a cap at 1 religion per civ not only reduces competition for the religions, but also their value. in a 8 player game all but one civ will get one and that fight will probably be between the 2 most backward civs.

the irony here is that capo has fiercely resisted most rules for diplogames, especially rules that will make the game more balanced, as fairness and balance isnt the point of the game, in fact the contrary, variation in size\power\influence is what makes a diplogame dynamic and interesting. and I agree with that stand.

a 1 religion per civ is imo a balancing factor that I dont want. I also feel that in our game despite some civs getting several religions and others getting none, it adds to the flavour. for example it created the jewish bloc of the south. it also allows for great diploing, religious conflicts within a nation, between nations, reformist movements within the same religion causing strife (reformation, shia\sunni break and similar).

I feel that a cap is against the spirit of diplogames. however, if the majority feels it is imperative (I am strongly against though) the cap should be at 3 religions, not 1. make it a little uncertain who is getting what.

                      • I am very much against a cap or rule regarding religion too.

                          • There shouldn't be any caps, but there should be an allowance for in-game treaties (such as: "I'll give you all the prerequisite techs for free - including the religion tech -, if you let me get religion X").

                              • Then I wonder why we on civ2 experiences decide that the civ4 normal in-game endings are not satisfying.

I have still not heard any good reason to not just end the game with the space race. That's the most tense game ending I can imagine in civ4.
