hmmm. is my gamespy id my e-mail address or is it my nickname?

strange thing is, I cant seem to change my profile name, either in civ4 or at gamespy... what am I doing wrong?

I thought that it was my gamespy nickname that would show up in civ, which I changed at gamespyid.com, but it is my e-mail address (without the @gmail.com) that is used... Does anyone know why?
