                • A troublesome Sunday afternoon saw 3 war declarations, disconnections , restarts, extreme lags some of which may have altered the results of battles of massed stack attacks, annoyed, irritated and frustrated players. Some progress was made, wars are now involving more advanced units, those not involved in the wars are leaping ahead technologically.
This game has been somewhat damaged as a game fair to all participants due to some of the technical problems experienced on Sunday as well as the tactics used by some players. There needs to be some discussiom before next Sunday on whether this game should be continued or a replacement game started and played in a better spirit.

                  • Can you please explain what happened as i didnt see a thing. I heard something about some stack attacks with lag or something, so please explain.

I know frank is upset ecuase he fells ljube used some kind of exploit on him and basiclay runins weeks of play. Its fine to lose fair square, but not to exploits if thats what it was.

To ljube, you basicaly set this whole thing in motion with your game style buy basicaly saying your doing toni's wishes. I find this to bad sportmanship, just becuase your behind on score due to your owns wars early in the game is no reason to runin it, and that is what you did. You dont see alex saying hes going to throw the towel in and do as Frank, or me says. In future if you lose a war so what, you rebuild your civ and play on. Thats part of the game.

If your going to play agressive, expect people to band together to stop you, espicaly when unprovoked. Im not oging to attack anyone becuase there a few techs ahead or maybe have a wonder. Good play by them. I will try to build my civ and only go to war if they provoke me or i join an exisiting war. Of course i can play agressive like you, but you often come unstuck if you want to be an agressive player, this is not the AI and humans will band together to stop you. Very realistic, nearly every agressive nation in human history is brough down by an opposing alliance.

I play civ with my own nations interest at heart, i try to role play like i would in realife. Hence why i joined the war to help toni. I much prefer a friendly neoughbour then conquers rolling up on my door step. As it was 2vs1 i decided to intervent as it was not in rome interest to have agressives civs to my north.

With the war against Frank, i was happy to see yous fight it out. It was 1vs1 and frank seemed to have a big army. Trevs war against alex was more concerning and i came so very close to declearing war on trev, picling on poor alex. I may yet intervene. Have to do somthing with the worlds largest army.

This game would be fine if we just play with a bit more good sportmanship. If were going to be a group and playm reguarly, you have to repect each other and play properly, dont give in our we get a sub. Do not use lag or exploits, thats not a good player just abusing the programing or lag. Is it really worth it to runins some else game they have been playing for weeks over it.

Basicaly all the root problem stem from the early war between Ljube and Trev. That put both of them behind us. However wasteing there resouces to conquer others only backfired. I had a late start by 2000 years and spend most of my time building up. I have a good and powerful empire now. You can recover from setbacks you just need to do the right strategy for your situation.

You may not think our alliance against yous in the first world war was rationaly your point of view. From ours it was, yous both went to war against a nation that was friendly to all of us. We were not going to sit by why toni was replaced with alot stronger far more agressive civs, such as trev and ljube. You may think you need to do this to recover, but in the end we were not going to allow that to happen.

Anyway i think its been a good game. If people agree to peace for awhile, andl and problems with units being destroyed via lag or what ever, we can continue. If not its a new game.

But do not let this happen again. Play like were all friends, anything goes but there is such a thing as sportmanship. Do not use eploits.

                    • I used no exploit. There was a lag and that's all. It was resolved by reboot.

I warned you, deity and Frank, all people who sided with Toni when I attacked him, who supported him by gifting units, that after my total defeat in that war I had no choice but to surrender to Toni. Since I'm his vassal, of course, I do his dirty work and I will continue to do his dirty work in the future. You should have thought about that when you, contrary to logic, offered support to Toni.

This is not true. There is no way I can recover and that was not due to my early war, but due to my poor land. My only choice was to go on the offensive and trev's cultural influence on my capital only strengthened my resolve to fight.

Also, you didn't have a late start. The AI played for you and since the AI expands and researches faster than human, you actually had a head start.

Fine. Now you allowed Toni's victory. Good for you!

Start from your own backyard. Try to play this game with a bit more good sportsmanship yourself. When Toni was carving up Marcus you had no objection. But when I attacked him, you had to support him with all you've got.

Then you invented some ridiculous justification about that shameless defence of Toni's realm as being directed against a 2-on-1 invasion, even though trev participated with only a token force.

It quickly became 4-on-2 which trev and I weakened by years of continuous war could not resist. Naturally, I surrendered to Toni following my total defeat in that war.

Later you came with another statement that you allowed Toni's rape of poor Marcus to happen because that was a 1-on-1 war.

Well, I wanted to test your hypocrisy. I attacked Frank in a 1-on-1 war. But just as I expected, you interfered with your threats about being No. 1 military power and such and your desire to control world developments by dictating others what to do. Well, good for you. I consent that you are the most powerful army. But let us now see if you lead the world in integrity as well.

                        • The issues are two fold.

Ljube has already made his irrational stance on the game clear. He's not fighting for his own benefit or gain, just to cause damage.

The other is in the nature of the fight. It was clear that Ljube can't fight a sustained war against me. He can run around, and pillage stuff, and run on other guys road networks to get an advantage to burn a border town, but that's about it. There's no border towns left where he can do that anymore.

The other was with the simu turns plus the lag, and the nature of the fight. Ljube was essentally running the entire fight. He would not confront my armies. Due to simu turns and the nature of the chance, I was just as likely to catch him as he was to run away. On any of the given 50 odd times he dropped, I could have destroyed his stack. Instead, I allowed him to escape because I figured Ljube would complain if I put an end to his fun little jokes. But....really there was only so much posturing, personal assaults, and irrationality that I could take in one game.

                          • I'm sorry about the lag Frank. It was caused by my internet connection and was resolved after I restarted my computer.

There is no way I can gain anything from any war, because I'm so far behind any of you. The only choice I have is to fight for somebody else and when that person whom I support eventually wins have some kind of solace in the fact that I helped him do it.

Sorry, I have another choice. That is to gift my cities to somebody.

                              • Well let's put it this way.

You're going to play in a civ game.

All the civs bordering you are going to remain neutral.

All the civs not bordering you are going to declare war on you.

However, the neutral civs are going to give open borders to your enemies and not to you.

Whenever your enemy is at a disadvantage they are going to run to a neutral country to resupply. They will then use the road network in the neutral country to assault you somewhere else.

                                This will go on, forever.

                                Enjoy your game.
