Good to see these Aussie games are still going on.

Ive been too busy lately to play much, but now have alot of free time.

Let me know if you need anymore players for games.

Looks like we will be playing today, from what i can see deity, myself and Alex are around, just waiting for master trev to show up.

Toni, where were you in the arvo when we were all there? We played 2 interesting games without you, one in the arvo, and one in the evening, both 4way games.

If you need another play ICQ me. Im generaly free during the days. At night during the week im normaly playing Hoi2 (hearts of iron 2) but i do have some nights free.

Ok Mike, we will do that, a great game was played this afternoon with 8 players, 2 significant wars have begun, Ljube attacked trevriffic with a stack of axemen and other units, it is believed he initiated this war due to a perceived culture threat that a holy city of Trevriffic's posed to his capital and other cities, failed to capture the desired city, then went on a pillaging spree. A second assault on a smaller city with less defence also failed, at least initially although more units are moving towards it, attackers and defenders. This war due to its cost will probably condemn both civs to losing places, even though overall ljube has had the better of it due to much earlier access to copper. But Trevriffic's later access to iron has evened the battle a little. Also Marcus due to restricted space and loss of a holy city to Toni (via barbs, not direct war) initiated a war to reclaim space and holy city. Hopefully the civs involved in this war can give a better update on its progress. There are plans to resume this interesting contest next Sunday

The deep-seated rivalry between the glorious French Empire and the brutal and treacherous Russians goes back several millenia.
When we first met, it seemed as though we had met long-lost cousins and neighbours. We pledged long life friendship to their leader Catherine-and all seemed well.
Unfortunately, it seems that the devious Catherine had designs on FRENCH resources-especially those of a cupric and porcine variety. In spite of all our protests, Russia placed a city RIGHT upon our borders. Stealing our resources in the process .
Determined to take back what was rightfully ours, and prove the natural superiority of French culture, we placed the city of Orlean right upon the border of St. Petersberg, and quickly convinced the local populace of Our Greatness (including those to whom the copper belonged).
Orlean soon came a centrepoint of a new, Monotheistic faith-which was quickly embraced by my neighbours-including Russia. Unfortunately, in spite of my efforts, heathens from the Southern Tundra captured the Holy City, and held it against ALL comers. In time, however, Jewish Holy Warriors of Russian extraction Liberated the Holy City of Orleans-or so I believed. In an act of GROSS SACRELIGE, the so-called 'Holy Warriors' actually burned the Holy City to ground, and carried away its many treasures and relics.
It could NOT be borne, and the old hatreds burned anew. Without hesitation we declared war upon the evil Russians and, in spite of some setbacks, we are quietly confident that we can capture their precious city of St. Petersberg-as some small recompense for the loss of our most Holy Place.

Very interesting game.

The Mighty Roman Empire.

For some reason that only the gods know, Roman was leader less until the nearly the dawn of the 2 millenium BC. There rose a great leader that has given the Roman tribes purpose and drive.

Steadily as the centuries past, Rome has risen from the ashes of a backward and small civilisation to be a middle ranked power.

It has not been easy, encased in Tundrea and snow expansion has not been rapid. The French to our west, Russians to our north, and Chinese to the east. Rumors of another English tribes to the north and an Incan race further.

With limited room to grow due to the late start of the romans, land was essiential. There was little to no room to the west and north, only room for 1 city. Expansion to the east was the only way. This expansion has ended as Roman borders hav reached China. Although no hostilies exist betwee China and Rome, China hinted it was not pleased. As a defensive measure this area will be heavily protected against any future agression by China. Rome watches with a weary eye.

The Situation in the west has gone from one of potenial great enemy to a dimished threat. The demise of the French Empire in the west was not at all unwelcome. With two of the largest Empires on Romes borders, we will a little insecure.

France's problems with its holy city be lost to barbians suggest the French empire invest to much into culture and not enough in muscle. Russia after some time took advantage of this and raze the barbian (holy city). This was not unwelcome in Rome as barbians had been raiding roman land out of this city with axemen, murdering innocent farmers. The destruction of the holy city also weakens france further with a loss of future income.

The destruction of the holy city has also given rome a little room for another city in the west to bring more balance to the empire.

With the empire now well established future growth looks promising. Romes population has grown only to be 3rd to another larger civs.

The wars between the English vs Incans and Russians vs French is not unwelcome to Rome. This will help keep these empires with in arms reach, unless one gains and out right victory. Im sure nearby civs might take advantage if some one gains to much.

All up i was happy to get back into a good civ game, after a frustrating start.

Look forward to next sunday. Hopefully play a few more games before then.

Rome : The Shining light of the World.

Rome is the centre of the civilisied world. All that remains out side out borders are barbian waring tribes.

Rumors have spread of great and ancient war that still rages to this day in the distant northern lands. The Incans and the English waring over whos tribal dances and cave paintings ae the greatest. They should visit rome and see our great art and culture.

There are sketchy reports as to who is wining or losing this great war, neither side seems to have a decisive advantage. Rome hardly thinks there jungle lands are worth any roman blood.

The small yellowish barbians to the east who call them selves chimps (chinese) have settled close to roman lands. These smallish cratures seem to breed like rabits and are like a virus on the land. Rome watches carefuly, as this chimp infection will not be permitted to infect Roman lands.

To the west, what seemed to be a large frog tribe (french) was considered a potienal threat or friend. There villages were large and the look to the sky for some Jew bird to worship. This Jewbird has infected one of our cities. As the Gods are looking after the true rulers of this world, Rome, a mighty disaster befell the French. The Jewbird Holy city was stormed by true barbians from the deep snows of the south.

The French were unable to retake there village, there stick and stones were in effective against the bronze working of the barbians. A Bear to the north saw this disturbance through the wooded forest and took advantage and burned, plundered and pillaged the city. The Bear was last seen heading north with the Holy Grail.

The French trib railled its warriors and now seeks revenge unpon the Russian bear. This new fresh war is yet to pan out, who will win this Holy War.

Listen guys, we are starting too many big games.

I suggest we use Saturdays to continue the game combos of deity, Trev, Alex, Marcus, Ljube, Frank & Toni. We have lots of good long running games and it's a waste of time picking up these big one offs with all their tech issues. All our regular games run smoothly usually.

Let's just reserve Sunday for Mike and the other ring-ins

Well im free to play civ every day will be for the next 3-4 months i think.

Today problems were sync errors and players aggression.

Alex got wiped by the AI in a war he started.

Trev got hammered by grater, early after doing the slingshot. Bit of bad luck from the reports i read. If you do the slingshot though you do leave yourself open to attack as other players arnt going to sit buy and let you get a big advantage. Slingshots are great in SP but in MP they are more easily countered as humans will gang bang you.

What yous need to do is play your games out. If some dies, to bad they can play agin when the new game starts. You can go restarting a game every time 1 person dies. Its part of the game to conquer other civs.

The only way to avoid this is to play more Diplo game.

I should just warn you guys that Saturdays a only gonna be convenient for me on an irregular basis, so best not to have to many of the long-running games on those days. Still, I agree it would be nice if we could finish any of our current games before starting any new ones .
