At this point (1800AD) I am sure that I am going to lose. However, things are getting pretty interesting despite that. Defensive packs are sprouting up between different nations,(i'm allied with Cyrus and Americans, currently the 1st and third most powerful). Am at about 80% science now, but trailing 5 techs and most. My orignial coloneis are secure, but there is now a patch work of other cities around. I hope to absorb some of the close ones culturally.

A bit of smart researching and tech trading has put me back into the think of things, I'm now only 2 techs behind the leaders, and ahead of many of puny ones.

Gathered a bit more support. Its going to be a challenge getting saladin and mansa to vote for me as they are neighbors and get a - close border attribute.

that is stupid that countries in close proximity get a minus...

sometimes it can be benefitial for two cultures to be close to each other...
