Hi nbarclay,
So far, I've been playing with 11 civs. I haven't tried the Archipelago map yet. I've used Balanced, Continents, Lakes and Terra (with sea level and climate set to Random) without problem. My assumption regarding the Highlands map was that the lack of sea tiles was what made it too much for my system to handle (assuming that sea tiles take less processing power than varied land terrain). That may be totally off base. For my next game, I may use another all-land map like Great Plains and see what happens,
For what it's worth, I'm using Win2K (patched to Sp4). I'm at work right now, so I'm not sure of the video drivers version, but they would be recently updated though probably not the latest version.
