Just doesn't have that one-more-turn feeling for me, not the way SMAC does, or Civ2 did. Just feels like a step backward in strategic depth, not to mention the je ne sais quois that gave SMAC such atmosphere and flavor.

Other than graphics, golden ages, and resources, I can't think of a single solitary thing that is an improvement from SMAC to Civ3.

Now there's an idea. The objective would be to be the first faction to achieve faster-than-light space travel, and send a battle fleet back to conquer the mother planet, Earth.

After what Firaxis did to Civ3, I don't want them coming near a sequel to SMAC.

Those hacks could suck the fun out of fellatio.

          ......let me rephrase that.....

I for one would welcome a sequel to SMAC! SMAC 2 sounds like a good idea, IMHO.

SMAC 2 is the sweetest of all ideas.

But I think they are working on a new RTS game called "Nations of Rise", to put some pressure over the competition...
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

*sigh* I just don't get you apolytoners and your obsession with SMAC. I played it twice, and never touched it again. I like sci-fi, just not in a game. I want earth.

Nah Alexnm, Firaxis is gonna one-up them and make a Civilization team-based FPS. But i'd rather have Master of Magic 2 then anything, improve terrain mangement, keep the combat system, add more cool spells and balance em. Would be great.

Firaxians have said they'll announce their next big super-duper project at E3. Does anybody know when it'll happen ?

The game is Sid Meier's Pirates II
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

"step backward" is an apt description. I think I played civ3 all of 2 days out of the box, and went right back to SMAC.
