The war like leaders (the Zulu, Mongolian, and Japanese AIs will almost never like anyone) will pretty much hate you and attack you any time the AI feels it can beat you. If you want to make friends with an AI then you generally have to never make war on them, adopt the same religion and civics, and give in to any demands they make of you. It also helps to have open borders, trade with them, and help them during war by attacking their enemies.
