    • Let's see...
You use WB to view the map on a comparison game.
You don't use locked assets on a comparison game and your point is, because you want to make changes to the map
You use WB to change terrain on the map to suit your style of play
You use WB to add stone

And you want to still claim you don't rig the world...

Yeah, right. The "FACTS" are pretty clear here.

      Enjoy.

      • only a intellectually challenged individual as yourself ignores the facts, especially those which disprove everything you say .

        i change deserts/tundra/ice to plains.

cant lock assets while doing this, maybe if you were smarter you'd get why

you assume what you want to make yourself feel better, your nothing but a bully whos been made a fool out of .

you cant prove any of your accusations but still say them blindly , only a desperate man oops boy sorry gave you too much credit makes baseless claims .

maybe just maybe you "rig" the world and dont want others to know about it so you like to express your distaste of it, hmmm.

only a conceded person like you thinks their opinions are facts

keep em coming boy ming, thats your new name now

        • Gee... your "arugment" is just personal insults.
You change the map, but claim you don't "see" anything...
You change things you don't like...
You added stone because your style of play needs it...
Yet you still say you don't rig the world.

And by the way, you can make all the changes you want to the map, and then load the game as a custom scenario using locked assests. I guess you don't know the game as well as you claim.

And I've never denied that I've rigged maps. I do it often when I want to test something or try a specific strategy. What I don't do is rig maps and then claim that I didn't.

And your only real response to the facts is insults.

          Enjoy.

            • It's interesting that you don't even bother to deny the facts, and all you do is use personal insults.

The facts are very clear, and all you have left is insults.

              Enjoy.

                • I have continued playing the first Jap game, expamded cities all over first continent (about 70) and captured amny cities from Mansa (about 40 I think, cannot bother counting).
Game is causing me difficulties, it has already crashed twice, obviously map size too big for my computer.
Also Brennus and Hannibal have a permanent alliance, they did fight me and landed near several cities but I beat them back and made peace. The earlier war with the Vikings resulted in Me landing on their land mass, captureing their capital first up, they then vassalized giving me an adjacent city, so all good there.
Mansa had voluntarily vassalized to Mao as well as Frederick. Mao declared war and with a massive stack captured 1 city which I had taken from Mansa in an earlier war and used the Apostolic Palace to make peace. He then moved about 150 units into the city including 63 currasiers. I built about 40 tanks and similar infantry and attacked. Over 2 turns his entire stack was wiped out, city captured plus a smaller stack from mansa wiped out. Mansa broke the vassalage so I wanted to vassalize him but he would not, instead he made a permanent alliance with Mao, jointly they revassalized Frederick as a voluntary vassal. So I advanced my tanks etc through Mansa territory, sending groups of 2 - 6 towards his cities, generally capturing about 3 cities per turn. Initially defended by longbows mostly, but some muskets and later the odd infantry. Once I captured about 40 cities, maybe a few less I made peace. War Weariness of 1160 with both Mansa and Mao was starting to kill my cities with unhappiness.
The war has given me access to a number of resouces, including gold, silk, banana and incense when culture expands enough, so it was good. I will now rush with cash some wonders for more happiness etc, got Eiffel Tower on the go as well as Hollywood, Rock and Roll, Cristo, UN, probably will not rush the UN though, cannot see myself having sufficient support for it to help me. Being able to accumulate cash at 5000 plus per turn means buying wonders is affordable and with 120 cities plus to keep happy sensible.
Also it is important to resume the war promptly before Mao can build tanks and larger numbers of infantry, otherwise taming him will get a lot harder.

                  • , damn you are crushing them.

hope the game cooperates with ya, if you could upload a save to mediafire.com thatd be awesome, goodluck.

if you want too, i uploaded another game save this time we are the ottomans and with one more AI and one less continent and espionage enabled and an AI on our continent. a much better and balanced map.

The only part that doesn't scale is number of turns to reach something, that's cut in half. I think that balances out with fewer cities though, the less cities you have the more important each one becomes. With a map that's 2x the size of huge, each city is effectively worth half of what one on huge is worth. Distance maintenance also decreases with map size, I'm not sure if it's directly proportional or not. If it is, that means distance maintenance is half of what it is on a huge map.

only if you are by yourself or with a wimp of a neighbor. if for example i was to rig the game so we played with tokugawa/genghis/justinian/ and ragnar on the same continent you would be fighting an awful lot more and this advantage would vanish.
That would be an interesting civ combo. Tokugawa makes one of the best allies in the game I think because it's so hard to become his friend, but if you do he's going to hate everyone else right along with you. Basically, if you get him to like you he's going to stick with you, most AI's won't do that... we usually get along really well.

, so right. shes even demanding things from me, shes one of my victims and a easy one since shes been blocked and very weak. in almost all of my games shes always annoyed with me .
The trick to her is to share her religion and give her an occasional gift/lots of trade. The religion point is key. This usually means though that you'll be up against everyone else. The real problem with her I've found is getting her religion (almost always Buddhism) usually means she's your neighbor. I dislike having my neighbors be my allies because I need to kill them for room to expand. It also means taking an early negative hit with her for close borders.

with the size of this map and the abundant resources on every continent its quite possible that you wont be able to get a domination win. you may have to win diplomatically or culturally or via space. post your saves if you however can, id like to see it. on my current game i think i can pull it off, the only question is how many volunteer vassals will i get if any and how many cities need i take to force them to be my vassals. the other thing is the length this requires by the time i get to my 3rd or 4th victim will i have the upper hand with techs or will i need more units.
Probably can't do a domination by 1500 but I'll pull off a domination win if you want. It shouldn't be hard, the trick is going to be seeing who has oil after scientific method. Those without easily deprived oil are the ones that need to be taken out last.

you seem to know that sureyevan(?) pretty well, i dont. got him chasing your workers heh .
I usually just flat out conquer him. This game is the only time I've actually made it a habit out of "fighting" him in my territory. I'm not sure if it's a quirk of his or because I ganked his worker. Either way though, it's quite amusing... he won't even pillage unless he fortifies on a tile. I think Ghandi can out fight this guy, and I've fought off a sword/axe armed immortal Ghandi with warriors before (infact, that's the previous game I posted).

yeah the continent generation was alot better this game along with no super mega huge continents too. circumnavigating the globe with these settings is always possible tho, i select no land on the poles for more usable space and less time remodeling the map.
I'm surprised you do temperate rather than tropical. Tropical gives you a lot more grass (and jungle) but less desert, tundra, and ice.

do you know how to change the lat's of where and when tundra/ice start and stop? i can make it so there are no deserts but then thered be alotta tundra.
My first guess would be the block of stuff at lines 2747-2762, the easiest way to eliminate ice would be to just comment out the lines involving it which is done by putting a # infront of it. There's other ways too but that would be the easiest, it would just convert it to ocean then. Another option would be change what it's making into ice into plains, grassland, etc by changing it from say featIce to featGrass or whatever it's called in the script.

                      • I am not going to keep playing it, crashed the game on consecutive turns, and with a lot of the game to go, things are bound to get worse. I had a count of cities, was a little high, only 105 all up. http://www.mediafire.com/file/nkw1gg...eyondSwordSave This is the current status of the game, and as far as I will play it.

if you are interested in that, maybe one of my future uploads could include that. id obviously pick a leader equipped to handle that many lunatics , any suggestions?

yeah maps too big to win that early. maybe by 1750 with some luck and utterly powerful army and you could just plot cities on their continents and theyd volunteer the next turn or take a couple of their cities and get a quick vassal. this all depends on your power obviously, for my game im way ahead on the power. i have 30+ cavalry thus far with more coming, 100+ riflemen or soon-to-be riflemen, 20+ cats/trebs with alot more coming, ive held off building a navy til i get frigates with drydocks but that will be coming soon. ive got over 50 cities so far with room for 20-30 more plus whatever i take from sureyevan. if i remember right i looked over the map once i got SM and saw everyone or almost everyone has land based oil.

now why didnt i think of that, hmmm. thanks, will remember.

for the most part i have no idea what you are saying. ive only changed % of deserts and plains. id need some detailed instructions for me to try this out, i also wonder if it would ill-effect this mapscript?

whoa, your cruising, have bout 60 tanks and some strong infantry.

quick question tho, whats your settings set at? are they all low? if not you could change them as such and take some of the load off of your computer. itd be a more plain map but youd be able to play when it start crashing on ya. for me thus far the game takes about 2-2.25 gigs of ram (i have 4, 3 available) and my dual-core so far easily handles the processes of these big maps. on the biggest map i got weird looking eastern parts of the map, they were blurred and a good 20% of the map was, it sucked but man that was one HUGE GIGANTIC map, easily support 1000+ cities .

i hope lowering your settings helps, if not thanks for playing. they have smaller but bigger than huge map selections available. i love this mapscript.

if you can get it to work and want to play another, i uploaded another that myself and brael are playing right now, its alot better.

                            • I have spent some time playing the Brael game as Romans. I will quit it at this time, a stack I cannot defeat is moving my way. After 1000AD, economy is terrible, far too far behind technologically, got off to very slow start, my 2nd city got destroyed twice by barbs, but persevered and got to this point. Built 3 cities in total, razed 2 cities of Spainish, captured 5 cities I think from Suryarvaman. Forced to Caste System to run merchants to avoid negative gold even on 0% science. Never traded for 1 tech, always too far behind to have something people wanted. Hannibal gifted several, got another 4 or so from peace treaties including stupidly Code of laws, was very close to learning it, should have persisted, but not used to tech broking only. Anyw ay I survived a reasonable period of time. http://www.mediafire.com/file/oj3zet...eyondSwordSave

                              • Nice job. You took quite a few cities it seems. On my game I expanded to 4 cities and had 2 more spots in my culture. My core was spread out a lot more. If you see those gems to your west, I had a city that far over. It's a much different game if you take the GW it seems.

Why did you pick that spot for your initial city btw? And was that your first attempt? My first instinct if I know I'm going to be attacked from several sides is to settle on a hill.

It seems I lost my 1k save so here's the 360 ad for comparison though a lot changes between 360 and 1k.

My position at about the same point as yours was I had gone through a war with Pacal and was on the losing end of one with Hannibal. If you look at his northern city you can see a stack, he's still building it there, but he sends it to me. Praets couldn't hold it off with the limited cats I had. Though I could probably tough it out, it would still mean losing one city, thanks to being on a hill my capital won't going down without a big fight. The big problem I was facing that game though is I'm spread out way too much, it takes too long to move units around so defending both sides is problematic.
