Lots of games huh? Well, if you do get into CIV4 (and believe me, i've been playing CIV series since the first one), you'll actually be making a huge saving on your dad's wallet since the game will keep yo uso busy you'll hardly need to buy any other game. Err... unless they release CIV V or Alpha Centauri II....

And i do agree CIV4 (BtS ou vanilla) is a better option than the complete collection of the older games. First off that you'll probably won't touch civ I or II due to outdated graphics, witch leaves you with III and IV, a worse choice than IV and BtS.

3 wasn't as bad as most people say. I think near the end they fixed many corruption problems. But the corruption model is a huge turnoff.

4 is like perfection. The game does almost everything right. There are a few minor annoyances, but for the most part it fixes everything wrong with previous intallments. The graphics are pretty and you don't get tired of them. But it is hard on my system though . I can't run anything above a standard map. I just finished standard highlands map, and even that got a little rough on my system (slight delay at the start of my turn)

So, Hydrareaper, did you get it yet? Let us know. Also note BTS is head and shoulders better than the basic and Warlords versions.

          Buy BtS.

I would strongly advise you to NOT buy Civ IV or anything related to it. Customer service is non-existent if you ever have to call the support hotline - which, by the way, sends you to the UK to deal with very "cheeky" call reps that basically do nothing to resolve your issues.

I have been dealing with 2K games for months now and they are doing nothing to help resolve issues I am having with the game.

It has gotten so bad that I now must meet with a consumer rights attorney to get my money back, and of course whatever fees he will charge them to simply return my money because the game is defective and they refuse to do anything about it.

Again, don't buy Civ IV. You will thank me in the end. If you like further proof, just check out civfanatics forums and you will see the TONS of people who are having problems with Civ IV - especially Beyond the Sword. And if you read enough, you will see many other people complaining about the poor customer service they are getting from 2K games.

IF YOU MOVE quickly Direct2drive is selling civIV base for 5 dollars as part of a special.

And you can suck an egg Fuerza. I've gotten at least 10 times my money's worth out of this game. The best bargain I've ever paid for in a game (except civII, since I played it longer) But BTS has the potential to top it.

                  Yep... TOTAL BS!
You are probably just too stupid to figure out your own problem. The fact that they came out with and additional patch after the so called "final" patch shows that they care about their customers.

I've got a very old PC, and I have had NO problems with BTS. I would recommend everybody buy BTS... it's the best game in the entire Civ Franchise. So cram it Bozo.
                  Keep on Civin'

It's a great game hydrakeeper. Lots of strategy, plenty of nuance, infinite repeat playability.

Why... some guy starts talking out of his ass and abusing not only the game (that has been working well for the majority of the people) but the company that has been providing us with good support. He can suck on an egg for all I care

You should be talking at him... not the people that speak the real truth

What a simple "suck an egg" is too much? I thought I was being restrained. My initial thoughts on a response were much worse.

The best way to get help for ANY game is usually the community anyway. There are plenty of gracious and helpful people here on Apolyton, for example, who are glad to help resolve computer issues.

So Fuerza's conclusion ("I called customer service / they didn't help me" --> "don't buy the game") does not logically follow.

That's because that would require a brain.
