  • Should i buy civ 4?

Well at the moment i havent tryed a civ game and i really want to!
But i need some reviews on how the game is.
Can you rate it and maybe show a video or something?

I would appriciate it if you do.

    Yes, you should buy it!

It is an extremely well put together strategy game, which manages to pack in lots of great historical flavour while keeping it as a fun and interesting game to play (again and again). For the best results you do want to buy a version of civ 4 which includes the latest expansion pack Beyond the Sword, since that is the culmination of all the development work.

Its a strategy game, it doesn't work in real time, which as far as i am concerned is great. You can ponder, plan and do it your way. There is great flexibility in play styles and tactics - as all the forums on here will testify - and the difficulty levels work well in allowing the game to keep pace with you as you get better.

Of course experts on here will always point out bits and bobs they would like differently, but if you are interested in history, or strategy games, CIV 4 (beyond the sword) is well worth the cash.

(And no I don't work for Firaxis!)

There are tenths of reviews on-line, some a good, some make no sense (i.e. the author clearly had no idea what the game is and how does it work).

If you like turn based strategy games, Civ IV is by all meas a "Must Have".

I also don't work for Firaxis.

        Rating 10/10

It's hard to say if you haven't played a civ game before, which means you haven't played a turn based strategy game before.

But if you like a slower paced game which require lots of decisions, civ4 is the game for you. If you don't want too many decisions, you can even have the managers make them for you. Warfare is an important part of the game, but you also manage your empire (nation). From building roads and city improvements, to managing your economy, religion, corporations, diplomacy, and last, but not least, warfare.

Chronicles doesn't seem to include the Civ4 expansions. Beyond the Sword (BtS) is, according to all accounts given to me in my own thread, superior to vanilla Civ4.

I have to agree with CW. While Chronicles does give you the all the old games and maybe some interesting stuff, it doesn't include the latest version of CivIV. The CivIV provided is years old and is no where near as good as the game now is with the BTS expansion pack. You would be better off buying a copy of CivIV and the Beyond The Sword expansion. It would probably be cheaper too. You will get a better game in the deal. If you really love the game, you can always consider buying the complete set later... but frankly, all the other old games are just that... old games that aren't as good as the newest version.

              Good luck.

Yeah, if it doesn't have BTS, it's probably not worth it.

Good luck. You could always try "best to go for the cheaper option first, in case I don't like it, no point in wasting money ..."

You can also use the old... "I know I have a lot of games already, and that's why I did research before making any real decision" line... That with the ole "it's better and cheaper" argument shows you just aren't jumping into something. GOOD LUCK.

It's not that bad without BTS. In fact, it may even be easier to "ease" him into the game.

Civ4 vanilla is the easiest way. There are the fewest amount of units, and no corporations. Although corporations aren't real difficult to grasp.
