I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned
Can you suggest what would be the best course of action now, the attachment is below-
You shouldn't have cities with no military units in them. A few of your cities in Europe have citizens who are unhappy because "we fear for our safety". I think the one in yugoslavia (whose name I have forgotten) has 4 unhappy citizens because of this. You should build a single musketman and station him inside that city to get rid of this unhappiness. Because you're under Hereditary Rule, if you need yet more happiness then you can station more troops there.
Also, you're building wealth in quite a few of your cities. If you didn't have quite so many farms and built cottages instead, you'd be able to support your relatively modest army without doing this. You'd be able to build libraries, universities and markets. Unless of course you were aiming for a specialist economy (I always cottage. I'm vaguely aware that specialists can be used instead).
This is my first game in Civ4, I think I made a mistake in thinking that every city should have everything(grow rapidly, produce, research) but it is hard to balance that.
Anyway, do you think this is a good overall progress considering what year it is, on what kind of victory would you focus on with this?
I destroyed Romans, Greeks, now about to finish off Egyptians, but conquest victory seems like a LOT of work...especially now with Cyrus and that Chinese guy, both have many times larger armies.
I still find the rolls never go my way when I bring in less than I should. Although occasionally I can bring in 2 or 3 units and conquer a city. Usually it requires much more. I seem to do much better when coming with overwhelming numbers. Although recently I did strugle against a french city. but they had amazingly high defense. and I couldn't get any decent %'s (no more than 1%). Had to whittle down city cultural defense the slow way. Even then I still had to use 2 cats for collateral damage, or I still would have lost.
oh I forgot to mention there is one thing that is reliable. The fact you aren't playing custom game and using preserve random seed. Every reload will be the same exact result. The real question is how many times did you have to reload before realizing that.
I still recommend playing regular game and not custom. It helps curbs the urge to reload which is a crutch for a weak player. I still reload occasionally (see my diplomatic victory thread for details). But usually only when I forget to take action with troops in my territory (it's amazing how often I ignore those troop marching sounds). Reloading for battles and goodie huts is a no-no.
What this will do is force you to plan your battles ahead of time and not rely on lucky rolls to win. It will help promote strategic thinking at least a little bit.

Civ is a game played for fun. If anyone enjoys the game more by reloading for battles and goody huts, then that's fine. Some games have house rules against it - succession games, hall of fame and so on - otherwise, play the game anyway you like.
Incidentally, by reloading a major battle with the same seed you can explore different strategies and thus improve your strategic thinking.
I'll sometimes just play the game as an MP game by myself to make sure I don't succumb to that temptation when your super unit loses that 99.9% combat.
But I agree. If people enjoy the game more if they reset every now and then, as long as they're not playing for money or competitive, more power to them. It's all about the fun. For me, the most fun is playing other thinking humans.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
