So to bring everyone upto speed, we left off just finishing chemistry ahead of the curve, my plan; Build lots of privateers and bring in a little extra cash while I could. I really only had 2 naval producing cities, so 'lots' would have meant around four.... But I digress. Inland cities tooled up to make use of the new techs and gain the ability to fight on land effectively. I taught my own men to wear steel upon themselves, created my own boomsticks, and prepared for war at an easy pace. I also had many buildings that required building. So I had to find that balance.

I sent my new super boats west towards Korea, as they had been my main technological rivals. It took 3 turns, from upgrade, to sail time to hit his borders.

That kaniving... cheating.... son of a.... How did he do that?

Well realizing I am still not a tech leader... I decide it's time to continue shopping...

However, undaunted, I continue with the tour, decide to take a look at the inner defenses of istanbul.

That proves to be rather weakly defended. Soon. It shall fall.

Not long after, my second prophet (and 3rd Great person) is born. He moves to the next city and builds the other shrine.

Even less exciting than the previouse. However, I had not been pursuing active spread, so what did I expect?

Then it happens. That scoundrel Sala-Hadin of the funny hat club, distracts me whilst his cronies try to sneak passed and attack the peace loving people of the Americas.

My spies quickly alert me and I send him off. How dare he come at me with some worthless trade while I have important matters of state.

After a situation report, we learn that there is no real danger. One of Mansa's frigate captains had gone rouge, and started a war between my empire and their alliance. Mansa, Not wanting to appear weak, or out of control, plays that it was all his idea all along, but I know what the truth is. He is a weak man ruled by those upon whom he should be ruling. Simpleton. I sink the offending ship, and have it's captain taken alive to face trial. The whole world shall know of this trechery.

The next turn, Tokugawa fearing for his own safety, decides he should join an alliance with his neighbors. Perhaps he believed THEY were the biggest threat?

Bizmark send emisaries to Rome. He Asks my ally and friend to declare war on me. Ceasar, see's the conspiracy, has the emissary's head removed, thus forcing Bizmark's hand. He declares war upon Rome. This of course keeps Rome from assisting me in my war. But I believe I shall not need it.

A young student comes to me. He tells me about how he has improved the accurancy and range of the Boomstick by changing the shot and carving some grooves in something... I cant be bothered with details at a time like this. I tell him 'yes yes, do as you like.' and send him on his way.

Suileman does something quite silly. He builds a palace so grand, that anyone who should conquer it, would find an offset to the cost of running any nearby cities through the tourism it will likely generate.

Looking towards the future, I realize that if my armies are going to have to fight, I shall need some more money in my cash reserves. Boudica is also willing to part with 400 gold for Monothiesm. Now 2 turns of research have made me close to 1000 gold.

Realizing that this 'phoney' war will eventually lead to not so phoney invasions. I move my troops towards the east coast. Just as they arive, I am informed that that young students improvements are ready, and we just require the money to begin the upgrades.

I allow him to spend all of our reserves. He tells me it will not be enough. This requires me then, to ask for assistance, or trade anything that isn't nailed down to raise a sufficiant amount.

As Korea is not a nation I wish to gift technology to, I ask politely for financial assistance. He denies me. I shall not forget this Wang.

Wanting no actual fighting, Hatshepsut and Hannibal both agree to end the war, with a ceremonial gift of 35 gold apiece to me. This leaves me at war with Mansa, his vassal Suliman, and that dishonerable rebel, Tokugawa.

I am now free to proceed with my plans.

Ships away! A force crosses the big water.

My army lands behind the first line adjacent to the city. Not only have I bypassed many of the cities defenses, But I have cut the city off from reinforcement. Victory shall be MINE!

Mansa, wishing to show us that he really means buisness, finally sends a token force at me. Surely he has no idea what awaits.

Realizing, with some of my army away, and my cash reserves gone. I must beg borrow or steal what I can. Wang is the last nation not at war with me to have any reserves. I must give in. The safety of my people is in jeapardy.

Ahah! the new weapons prove to be as great as that young main said! The attack is not only stopped, it is decimated with no real losses in my own army. I shall Make him a governor!

News that the assault on Istanbul has begun. I pray the boys succeed.

Elsewhere, My ships returning for reinforcments to drive inland from istanbul are intercepted. I suffer a humiliating defeat. All of my pride frigates are sunk. The galleons can only counter attack against 2 ships. Istanbul's besiegers now stand alone.

My greatest spy offers his services. As I have little use for him in my court, I send him among the people to ferment true fear as to make them work harder to defend thier homes.

After some time, The assault of istanbul nears completion.

The city falls. The greatest defensive possition in the world has been taken. Perhaps the world shall now know Incan power is not to be underestimated.

As my fleet is sunk, I cannot move inland from Istanbul. I have them consolidate thier holdings, and accept ceremonial offerings for peace.

I take advantage of the Golden age, and finally update our government.

    Constantinople focuses on mercantile improvements.

Stay tuned for the next chapter of the saga. Even I could not imagine what came next!

Now, having shown his devotion to our friendship so steadfastly over the years, it pained me greatly to have to refuse aid against Bizmark. But a new order is growing, and I must focus. Such a side-show would do little to further my cause.

The greatest minds decide, Ceasar should not require my help. He controls the greatest army upon the planet. My forces, even with what they proved, are but at 5th upon the list. Size doesnt matter when your troops are the most disceplined.

Now, By using my position of strenght that I have gained by holding Istanbul, I have joined this funny hat club against the wishes of it's members. I had researched it's rules, and knew full well my rights of veto even when I am such a junior member. Wishing to expel me, Bizmark puts forthe a vote he believes will anger me greatly. Perhaps causing me to walk out in disgust. He does not know my mind. Instead of the veto, I vote a simple "no" knowing full well my vote means little.

My hand is now "forced" by the wishes of the world. I can now remove the only danger my people faced throught history, and not gain a negative reputation by doing so.

Quite to the contrary, they applaud me for my assistance. Even the most seclusive of the bunch offers trade.

The first City falls to my troops. He sends a counter attack aimed at London, but it is Decimated as my troops show the power of manuever.

My knights, able to kill Multiple units in a single attack, make short work of them.

My engineers begin planning a transit system that will surely be the envy of the world. As well as conect each corner of my empire.

I step up production to a total war footing. Every city begins building modern Boomsticks, even the ones so large, they require wheels.

I begin forming three armies. The main one in the west, and two fresh armies, one for the south, and another to the north.

The southern army, far from complete does not wish to wait, and begins it's attack even while understrength. I feel such pride for my men. This isn't a tear, its uhh, an itch...

      Army west continues it's attack.

The defenders hold out, but just barely.

The defenders surrender the next season. They know they are outmatched.

Not wishing to sustain a defeat like before, my admirals combine the wearing of steel tactics of my knights with the large Boomstick technology available. The world must tremble.

Army west continues it's advance. Captures some of the Great Wonders of the Roman Empire.

Army south, believing it to be race, pushes hard along the coast. Even the mountain walls cannot slow it.

Army north, finally gaining strenght, begins it's push. They took longer to form due to the travel times involved, but they lack no spirit from joining the fray late.

Armies west and south hook up and encircle Mediolanum. By showing such flare, Army souths Comander is promoted to Field Marshal. And takes over control of both armies.

Constaninople's drive on mercantilism pays off. A great man is born. I have plans for you my son.

Armies south and west combine to one all powerful unit, and begin the drive on Rome itself.

Army north, continues on as well, still woefully understrenght.

The Grand army encircles Neapolis, Ceasar's naval city.

It falls, and Ceasar has no choice. He cannot continue the war, and accepts annexation into the empire. I reward him with Regional Governership. I hold no animosity against him, and he none towards me. He understands it is for the greater glory of the empire.

A look upon the annexed lands.

After some see-saw fighting in the north, Boudica seeing my generosity with Ceasar asks for the same treatment. I grant her Wishes. She joins the empire as a regional governor.

Now as the war had taken some time, Nearly 100 years, It required a rather large time investment to keeping the populace working for the war effort. As this greatly reduced my research, I take advantage of some trades to "catch back up".

Now, finally putting my Industrial ability to use, My capital begins work on a new Wonder of the ages.

I am shortly after given a choice not easy to make. I require so much, but time is finite. I decide to take Biology as a few cities are going hungry. The extra food shall be quite welcome, and it also brings a certain Corporation that much closer.

I trade that with Ceasar, as he has knowledge of communism.

Now London beeing the center of the worlds silk manufactory, and my needless bleeding of cash, I decide it is time to open the silk road with all my 'new' friends. It gains me quite a bit of income.

Arretrium showing some future potential, is set to work building a manufactory. London also, is set to take advantage of a monetary house.

My scientists learn a new method of talking over great distances that requires no wires. It must be magic.

Afterwards, My nations doctors discover that, by cultivating moldy bread in a certain way, a medicine caple of curing many diseases can be created. It also is apparently a good way to make fish edible without cooking it first.

I set my cities to building the next wave of great wonders. But my earlier choice of not going for factories prove a mistake. Korea builds a wonder that I would have desired for my own people. I worry not, as only one city (with versailles) seperates it from Istanbul.

Cumea nears completion of my main target.

Apparently my easy conquest of the mightiest army in the world has not gone unoticed. Tokugawa, realizing where the future is heading, begs to join the Empire. As a new axis of evil has formed around his lands. Egypt and Mali have signed a pact of steel. Only foulness can come from such a pact.

I gain his crusade against the Mongel horde. As I had troops beeing shiped towards Istanbul at the time, it was a simple matter to re-direct them to Mongolia.

This new Sushi craze is begining to catch on. With the help of my new Wonders, I am able to secure a large Importation of seafood, and it shows. The masses are fed well on this uncooked fish.

My forces land in Mongolia. They attack from the sea and begin to move inland. Mongolian troops cannot withstand the advance of even such a minor force.

His navy foolhardedly attacks my transport fleet and is soundly defeated. This alone proves to him, that Joining the empire is better than utter destruction.

Back at home, The Christo (who is that?) Redentor completes, and I update my government again at no waste of preciose time.

A new age of warfare is brewing. A rolling can of death is created in my lands. Perhaps the first of its kind in the world.

And the Sushi craze expands even further.

As a leader of the New Empire, and a member of the funny hat club. I decide it is time to pick a hat of my own. Tell me, what do you think of my choice?

                    Very entertaining. Keep it coming.

What settings and map, etc., is this game on? I think I'll dump my current game and give this one a try (but at Noble, since I suck).

I look forward to the continuation and some wise commentaries from the bright people on this forum.

OK, got it. Thanks. What victory type are you going for? (It looks like domination, but maybe that's just a byproduct of how well you're doing overall. I suspect you have several options now, but I'd like to know which one you specifically planned for and what sorts of steps you took to achieve that.)
