If the library allows you to have 2 science specialists, what allows for 2 engineers? The forge allows only one so is there something I'm missing?

Indeed... GE is in some ways the most powerful GP in terms of generating MORE gp's, so it's made the hardest to get. Great Wall used to get GEGPP, now great spy... that was a great gambit:
1. Build Great Wall ASAP
2. Get Great Engineer
3. Use GE to build Pyramids
4. Build other GE wonders as you can, using regular building; settle all of the GE's for megahammers.
...
6. Profit!<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

A city with PHIL leadership and Pyramids/Hanging Gardens/Hagia Sophia and forge w/engineer specialist can still churn out GEs fairly quick. The problem is once you start building other wonders you either muddle the GE pool in that city, or you have another city which is constantly beating your GE city to the punch.I'm consitently stupid- Japher
I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

But yeah, trying to keep a pure GE pool is not easy. Especially when my own civilization assigns specialists without my knowledge. Have to go on regular tours to make sure things are as I want.Voluntary Human Extinction Movement http://www.vhemt.org/

Fairly quick, but not nearly as fast as the GW rush. Pyramids also cost a LOT to get out in terms of lost growth potential - you have to build them at a rather key point in your development.
The key of course is to put the GE specialists in some other city... Your GW city would be your capital or another early city, no reason to assume that's your hammer city (as the point is that the GW is cheap, as is the hanging gardens).<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

I don't think it's practical to keep a pure GE pool anymore, since you need the pyramids to do it and that's got to be built in your main hammer city (unless you have two).<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

There is also an event (with forges) that will allow you to settle an engineer specialist in your capital. If you can do that early enough it can boost your chances at getting GEs.I'm consitently stupid- Japher

Mercantilism doesn't give you any extra GEs or GE points. It does give you a free specialist that you can use towards an engineer.
If you're gonna mention that you should also list Statue of Liberty and National Park.I'm consitently stupid- Japher
