  • my current game w/ buddies.

4 player + 3 AI game on tiny map continent. yeah i know. Other games so far has been standard w/ AI or small w/o AI. We figured the uber crowded tiny game would go faster. This is the first save after ~1 hour of play tonight.

    I'm Willem of Persia.

Well I'm on an continent with only my friend(china) and he's a beginner so wiping him out and monopolizing the continent is not an option. (I want him to play) The Persian UU therefore is a waste unfortunately, but Financial trait is gonna help me out nicely for the builder gameplay.

Too bad... I was hoping to play aggressively this game early... oh well.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone has any input on how I'm doing, how my city placement is and etc. And what course of action to take. Since we all suck, anything is appreciated.

Ill put screen shots later. I cant zoom out right now to take a nice pic of my cities.... but heres the save.

Nobody's civ is passworded. We all know each other so it's under the honor system. So do refrain from telling me about things I shouldn't be knowing. We're not playing to win... more like learn, but we're not exactly sharing everything while we're playing either...

Well, I can tell you that you and whoever is playing as China have too few workers. Slave out workers for 2 pop from all cities apart from the size 2 and 2*size1 cities asap.

Looks like some pretty mediocre land. Not much in the way of luxuries. None until you get calendar.

Are you not upgrading your forces or did you just build several units on the same turn?

yeah I have 4 workers. few turns ago I only had 2. Im working on workers (haha).

Im wondering if i have too many cities for the mapsize, since I can only keep science at 30%. Should I add another city to use up dead space?

That site has no growth potential. Forget it.

I'd build it after CS was researched so it could work irrigated grassland and coastal tiles. Not briliant but it will benefit the economy. Get calendar and Monarchy (in reverse order) then build up to slaughter the Chinese.

Also, build/slave 2 galleys and place 4 axes on them and go kill Nanjing. Tell the Chinese player to show you some respect from now on.

Actually don;t raxe Nanjing. It's in an awful spot, should have been built on the marble for Iron and fish. Buidl 2 galeys but don;t stock them with units and show them to him, while moving up a stack on about 6 units (2 spears and some other units like axes, archers might do thou) through the botleneck city to threaten Shanghai. Make him slave some units. It'll sloww down his expansion and growth, and give you a greater overall lead in tech and pop growth.

yeah nanjing is horrible. He's new so hes not aware of what hes doing yet. I suggested he build a city up north of bejing, but I should have specified where. I was thinking by the jungle (or south of that tile... to get iron in BFC) would be the best position.

Its not a cutthroat game and hes the newest so I dont want to eliminate him, rather try to work together.

should china build a city in between bejing and shanghai? i told him not to spread his cities too far, but there he goes and did it again... :-p

EDIT: i might even raze the city for him so he can rebuild it. do u guys think repositioning is worthwhile for having to rebuild a settler?

West Nile should be one square west, on the coastal desert hill. Opens up trade routes, lets you build a light house, gives a defense bonus, and , assuming West Nile was founded on a flood plain, gives you alot more food/commerce. You want to avoid building cities directly on flood plains. Sometimes there's no alternative, but not in this case.

Unfortunately not. Looking again, West Nile should still be one west, while Ironman should probably be on the Iron to get the floodplain that moving West Nile would abandon. Still, neither city is in a bad spot (particularly Ironman), just maybe not in the optimum spot.

And I don't found a city in your marked area, the only good tiles (and to say it has good tiles is a stretch) are already in the fat crosses of other cities. While some overlap can be okay, especially in the early game, that city site just isn't worth it imo.
