that spawns the stack of Spearman barbarians? I want to turn it off. I just started a game that had a near perfect starting location, with a bunch of Floodplains for Cottages, a Corn resource, some Hills and a source of Gold. I had Horses right next door and Copper a short ways beyond that. I had just finished building my second Settler to secure the Copper when I noticed a barb Spearman approaching. Clicking on the stack I discovered there were 5 of them heading right towards me. There's no way I could have survived that one, and it ruined what could have been an excellent game. I've already turned off the one that spawns the stack of Archers and I'd like to turn that one off too. It just really pissed me off.

Thanks. It's the Philistines It looks like. I've already turned off the Vedic Aryans, which is what spawns the Archers. I had that one a couple of times. I find it totally ridiculous that a randon event can be so gamebreaking. It's supposed to add something to the game, not destroy it. Even if those events were to happen to another civ, it would end up unbalancing the game, leaving a large hole for another civ to expand into as much as he/she wanted to.

I don't like playing that way either. About the only time I'll reload a save game is right at the beginning when I see that moving my initial Settler a tile or two will give me a better start. Anything else just feels like cheating to me. Besides, I have Preserve Random seed turned on so I'd still end up with the event.
