Firaxis Needs Testers!

Firaxis needs some fresh blood to beta test some new super-secret stuff. If you have plenty of time to kill, and want to have input into the development process, then stop over and fill out the application.

Our testers will be expected to play at least two full games every week and provide insightful - and detailed - reports about what they think works in the game and what could be improved.

Hmm, no Alpha Centauri on the list of favourite games.

We were going to put that on there, but it would only invite a flood of speculation about another Alpha Centauri, which EA owns.

Anyway, I would only be interested in testing Civ5 or SMAC2, so I guess I won't apply.

Somehow I suspect an EA takeover would not be a good thing, and an EA created SMAC2 (as opposed to independently created and then published) would not turn out well. But perhaps EA is turning that image around ...

I wonder if this has anything to do with the long-awaited patch for BtS? Or possibly an new expansion for Civ IV? (Although I personally think that Civ IV doesn't need another expansion, that's another debate for another time).

Wow - if only this initiative was around in 2001 - I'd have had something to do when I stopped being involved in Demogames in half a dozen forums.
