I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

IND gets you 2 things: cheap forges and cheaper wonders. Assuming one is playing SP, this can be resolved by 1)slaving forges, which isn't hard, and 2) getting and maintaining a tech lead over the AI, which also isn't hard. I rarely have a problem getting the wonders I want, except early in the game. So I don't value IND highly. I agree that there is diminishing returns with +%, but the more the better, right?I'm consitently stupid- Japher

Yeah, it's just the general increase which is higher for IND. Assuming you are PHI, are running pacifism, got Parthenon and national epic (+350% ). That +25% would only give you a general increase of 7,14%. If you are just industrious and got Pathenon and National epic (not running pacifism) that climbs up to (+150 ) 16,67% general increase.
I agree, the more the better, but with a PHI, you just don't feel the difference that much, because the multipliers are additive and not multiplicative with each other. ( 10 +100% +100% gives you 10 + 10 + 10 = 30 and not 10x2=20 , x2=40 )

It's incredible. Those praets just can not be stopped. They come out of the gate with Combat I and City Raider I, just one point away from City Raider II. They eat through anything in their way. Archers don't even register. I killed my first three civilizations while loosing only one preat.
Axemen are the only thing that has a chance, but even they die easily. You'll quickly have a stack of City Raider 3 praets and even axes can't do much anything against those.
It's just so easy. And indeed there will be time To wonder, "Do I dare?" and, "Do I dare?". t s eliot

As i said, backed by a great amount of siege weapons, they can even get down MGs (considering the huge amount of promotions they got at this point), and they are not limmited to CR + Combat promotions, they can get up the drill path too.
But at very high difficulty levels you won't have samurais before the AI has longbows. And samurais have a harder time against longbows than praets have against archers. So praets certainly have an advantage there.
they might have a somewhat shorter shelf-life, but their earlyness has advantages too!

Samurais don't have a hard time against Longbows at all with Boudica ^^ Just lower citys defenses to 0%, and go for it, they will get out almost without beeing injured. Once you got CR3 and Drill2 there is NOTHING that can withstand them until industrial era.
