Normal as a rule, with the odd SG or RB Event on Epic speed. Never tried Quick and only one game on Marathon.

I've only tried epic and normal, and I prefer epic between the two. Normal just seems a bit too fast for me.

I like Marathon best of all, but what I really wish is for a mode that doesn't penalize buildings as much as Marathon does. Wonders can stay the same, and Technology can come nice and slow, but I like to build as much, if not more, as I like to make lots of units for conquering purposes.

Quick...I don't have too much time...and it is a good protection agains the 'one more turn' addiction

Normally marathon, but sometimes I also play on epic

Epic almost always in SP. In "Normal," techs swing by too fast to really use -- never built a curassier or more than one warrior at that speed.

Quick is like reading a history book, you are an observer, but not really a participant.

Marathon, OTOH, is a wargame with very elaborate supply, production, and upgrade systems and very simple combat mechanics. Fun, but a different game. Also marathon only effectively rewards early national units. All others come too late to affect the outcome at Prince and above, at least for me.

Epic feels like Civ II; that I have control over history itself. (Always use low sea level, large maps with raging barbs and aggressive AI, Prince or King.) This means I try to make history but am not guarenteed to win.

Usually Marathon. I'm a quite patient person, and I love using my units before they become obsolete.

For those with very little attention spans (using speeds Epic or faster), you shouldve stuck with Tic Tac Toe.

Normal speed most of the time.
Some MP games, we will play quick if we don't have a lot of time.

And at normal speed, I never feel the stack I build becomes obsolete too fast.
                        Keep on Civin'

I'm actually quite surprised that less that a quarter of the people play at normal or faster.

It's not Warcraft or Diablo. A turn-based game is extremely suited to play in more than one sitting.

It takes me a few sittings to finish a normal speed game.
