  • What the *!@#$! does it take?

I have all the requisites to create Sid's Sushi but darned if I can figure out how. I have -- finally! -- the Great Merchant in my capital. I have 1 clam and 1 crab. I have researched Medicine. But I don't get to build it in the capital. So I moved the Merchant to the coastal city that has the clam -- still can't build it. I've looked at the Civilopedia entry ten times -- I'm going nuts. Why is it so hard to figure out?

By any chance does another civ already have it... or are you in State Property?
I will assume you have already researched Corporation as well as medicine

Are you running an Economic civic other than State Property and -- also as Ming says -- has it already been founded by someone else?

Do I have to have state property?

Where do I look to see what the other civs have? (As you can tell, I'm quite new to BtS, which is a whole lot different from Civ 3 and predecessors.)

No... you don't have to have state property. I didn't make myself very clear. If you are in state property, corporations have no effect.

            Requirements for a corporation include:
            * The Corporation tech
            * tech for the appropriate corp you wish to find
            * Appropriate type of GP to build the building
            * Resource to build the corp

Are you trying to "build" it with the build menu, or looking for the cute little icon on the Great Merchant's action bar?

Also, if you are trying to figure out if someone else has it, there is a corporation button in the upper right - select it and see if it's been founded or not (it will say when/where). The button looks like a briefcase.

To check to see if another civ has it... go to the corporate advisor screen (upper tool bar, there is a briefcase) There you can see what corporations have been founded.

Dan, it helps to have played the game before you give advice about it It costs nothing to found a corp HQ (I just did it on a worldbuilder start with 0 gp). Just the two techs, required resource, and the GP. (And not Merc or SP)

Whoops, pardon -- I was channeling setting up branches in other cities for some reason. I've edited my post accordingly.

Do you really want to eat raw fish prepared by a fella named 'Sid'?

Thanks for the info, gents. You were right, Ming, someone else got to it before me. I didn't see the little briefcase.

Snoopy: I was assuming I'd find the cute little icon in the city's build selection. What is the GP's action bar?
